Jessica Holmes,
Born 1869 at Cheetapore in India.
No Photo.
Died as a baby...lived for five months.


Osbert Edward Holmes,
Born 1871 at Peshawar, NWF, India (now Pakistan) Educated in India until he was nine years.

He became a school teacher with the Tasmanian Education Dept. and was posted to numerous areas of the state.
He married Elizabeth Stevens and moved to Melbourne in 1910 where the first child was born.
Osbert then became an insurance agent...he also was a good tennis player.


Ida Guiletta Holmes,
Born 1873 at Mussore, India.

She was about 7 years old when the family arrived at New Norfolk from India. Educated at Dilkhoosa and spent her life with her parents.
She assisted in the house, garden and orchard and made many knitted items for charitable organisations in Launceston.
Ida also was a very good tennis player, and never married.


Harold Bentley Holmes,
Born 1876 at Meerut, India.

He was 4 years old when the family arrived at New Norfolk– 8 years old when they moved to Dilkhoosa, West Scottsdale and educated at home.
In 1910 he married Eliza Adams and built Bentley homestead, located “across the paddocks”.
He became a farmer and took over Dilkhoosa when Henry retired.
He was a good athlete, District and Gov’t Land valuer and Member of the North Eastern Harbour Trust and a J.P.


George Donaldson Holmes,
Born 1877 at Meerut, India.

The youngest son and tenth child born.
Educated at Dilkhoosa also Launceston Church Grammar School and matriculated in 1899. He gained work with the National Bank of Tasmania.
In 1905 he departed Tasmania for Belfast in Ireland then on to Canada.
He married Canadian, Mary Booth but had no children.
George represented Canada in Davis Cup tennis and also had a sports goods business in Winipeg.

Beatrix Georgina Holmes,
Born 1879 at Meerut, India.

'Trixie' was a baby when the family departed India for Tasmania and was 5 years of age when they moved to Dilkhoosa.
Educated by older members of the family at home.
Like the rest of the family was an excellent tennis player, winning many championships. She assisted her mother and sister Ida with household chores until she left home.
She married John Campbell of Launceston and they had no children.
