Фильм критиковался за то, что большинство из представленных фотоматериалов относится к голоду 1922-1923 годов.

PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE 1921-1923 FAMINE IN SOVIET UKRAINE

In 1922, the Ukrainian Red Cross sent out photographs to avert the West to the famine then raging in Ukraine. These photographs are mentioned in Ukrainian language newspapers then published in Canada and elsewhere in the diaspora. They can also be found in archives of various Western relief organizations. Some of the photographs were reproduced on postcards and sold to raise money for famine relief. The 17 photographs reproduced here come from the documents of "Union international de secours aux enfants", deposited in the Canton Archives of Geneva. The sender had made a list of the pictures on a separate sheet of paper and inserted the paper in the envelope. The photographs arrived in Geneva on 5 May 1922 and the date was entered on the list.
