Note - This is my 4th review.  I deliberately chose this movie ‘Ambushed’ (as the fourth) to show readers that I’m not just guided by my Robert Patrick obsession but I can be objective.
If my review writing was to be compared to a scientific experiment please regard this review as the ‘control’. There are worse and there are better – thanks goodness.

Synopsis

On the cover -  “When a Klan leader is murdered, it lights the fuse to a race explosion.  Now the only man who can put it out is the one everyone suspects.”
A Klan leader is murdered and Jerry Robinson (Courtney D. Vance) is the easiest suspect. The only witness to his innocence is the murdered Klan leader’s son.  After an ambush Jerry and the boy end up on the run together, escaping their certain deaths.  Lucy Monroe (Virginia Madsen) is the only one they can trust to help them.

My Thoughts

I’m not a big fan of Klan stories but I do like a good suspense. If I hadn’t known RP was in the movie beforehand the title and genre would still have grabbed my attention. I would have rented it or watched it on the television but not bought my own copy.  I initially watched it once and it took some serious Doggett withdrawal to extract it out of the cupboard to view again.  The acting is good, it has a believable storyline, even if a bit scary that there are really people out there who would think that way.  It is, however, a ‘watch it once’ type movie.

RP involvement
RP does not appear much in this movie but his role is still very important. If you’re watching to see him then you may be a little disappointed at the little air play he gets. Even though his role is pivotal in the storyline his character is played down initially to add to the impact of the story’s climax at the end.
He plays another baddie in this movie and looks so good doing so. His hair and clothes are immaculate. I wish I wore clothes as well as he does. His hair is short and combed slightly to one side. I’m getting used to his short hair now. I appreciate that he needs to alter his hairstyles and appearances to suit the parts he plays.
Some positives
· Those eyes in the TV interview – major melt,
· The way he relates to the children – I can so imagine him being a gorgeous dad to his kids IRL,
· He offers to hold the baby at the barbecue – so sweet,
· Our man’s actually featured on the video cover,
· Love the hair and clothes.

Favorite Lines

Well not many really. All the good ones are spoilers.
I do love his ‘speech’ towards the end. It’s major spine chilling and shows what a great actor he is. Thank goodness he’s just acting. I wonder what he had to do to prepare for the role.

End Thoughts

If it weren’t for RP’s involvement in this movie I probably would still have watched it but only once. RP fans should still see the movie for his eyes, clean-cut looks and to see how well he plays a nasty guy.
I wouldn’t recommend buying this video unless you are a die-hard RP fan like me.
