              Just in case you have forgotten what it was like
             growing up in a small town......... (from Charlotte)

You know you grew up in a small town when....

1. You can name everyone you graduated with.
2. You know what 4-H is.
3. You've partied in one of the following: pasture, barn, middle of a dirt        road.
4. You used to drag "main".
5. You said a bad word and your parents knew within the hour.
6. You scheduled parties around the schedule of the different police officers because you knew which ones would bust you and which ones wouldn't.
7. You could never buy cigarettes because all the store clerks knew how old you were, and if you were old enough they'd tell your parents anyhow.
8. It was cool to date someone from a neighboring town.
9. The whole school went to the same party after graduation.
10. Directions weren't given by street names, they were given as follows: turn at Nelson's house, go 2 blocks east to Anderson's, then it's 4 houses past the football field.
11. The golf course had only 9 holes.
12. You couldn't help but date a friend's ex-boyfriend or girlfriend.
13. The town next to you was considered "trashy" or "snooty" but was actually just like your town.
14. The people in the "big cities" dressed funny but then you picked up the trend 2 years later.
15. You saw at least one friend a week driving a tractor through town.
16. Directions were giving using "THE stop light" as a reference.
17. You decide to walk somewhere for exercise and 5 people pull over to ask if you want a ride.
18. Your teacher called you by your older sibling's name.
19. Your teacher remembers teaching your parents.
20. The closest McDonalds is 50 miles away.
21. The closest mall is over 2 hours away.
22. It was normal to see an old man riding through town on a lawn mower.
23. You laugh your butt off reading this because you know it is all true!
