DWARF MOUNTAINS

FOR LEVEL 1 CHARCTERS

SOLO OR GROUP PLAY

 

SET UP

 

            This Adventure Module may be played with 4 players (playing one Character of each class) and a referee, or it may be played by one player (playing 4 characters, one of each class) and no referee.  The format below should be very simple.  Follow the numbers of the adventure map.  The numbers correspond to the reference below. 

           

            If you are new to Role Playing Games, the descriptions with each cave and cavern is enough to jump right into solo role playing or even refereeing a group game!

THE ADVENTURE

 

            The Dwarf Mountains to the north of the Barony of Silvania have been a constant hazard since Sir Charles was given this land grant by Sir Frederick, the King of Saxonia.  They have served as an encampment for Dwarf Raiders from the Empire of Mountheim. 

           

            But last night was the final straw for Lord Silvania.  The Dwarves swept down from the mountains in a huge horde, raiding and pillaging the town and surrounding farm lands.  He has called every yeoman, squire, and Knight to arms, and has even asked the local scouting guild, monastery and the Church for assistance. 

 

            Your adventuring company has agreed to take the northeaster path into the Dwarf Mountains, ready to combat the Dwarf raiders there in.

 

1.      CAVE ENTRANCE- After crossing the foot hills, your party’s scout picks up Dwarf tracks leading through a narrow valley.  After two hours of exploring the mountains you find a tunnel leading into the base of a mountain.  You light your light sources, ready your weapons and head in.  (This adventure will consume one flask of oil of four torches)

2.      DWARF GUARD- The Tunnel runs sixty feet into the mountain and then opens up into a 120’ long, 90’ wide cavern, with the tunnel continuing off the north wall.  Standing guard here is a three foot tall stocky figure with a long reddish beard, dressed in Chainmail and wielding an axe- a Dwarf! DWARF: Speed-3, Skill Resist-2 ,ATT-1, DEF+1, ODM+3, DDM+2

a.       DWARF: Speed-3, Skill Resist-2 ,ATT-1, DEF+1, ODM+3, DDM+2

3.      TRAP- Your Scout needs to make a check for traps.  If he fails, then each of you fall into a 10’ deep pit with wooden stakes on the bottom.  Take 10 and subtract your ODF from it.  The remaining difference is the damage you take.

4.      DWARF DUO- After the pit, the tunnel opens up into a large 90’ by 120’ cavern.  Tunnels exiting it are in the south and east walls.  Standing Guard here are two Dwarves. 

a.       2 DWARVES: Speed-3, Skill Resist-2 ,ATT-1, DEF+1, ODM+3, DDM+2

5.      DWARVES- the Tunnel opens up into a series of caves.  At the opening, 4 Dwarves stand ready to attack.

a.       4 DWARVES: Speed-3, Skill Resist-2 ,ATT-1, DEF+1, ODM+3, DDM+2

6.      DWARF LAIR- Further down the Tunnel you smelt the burning logs of a cooking spit, and see its illumination at the back of this series of caves.  In the dim light you make out the outline of the Dwarf Raiders, ready to defend their thieves’ lair and pagan shrine.

a.       8 DWARVES: Speed-3, Skill Resist-2 ,ATT-1, DEF+1, ODM+3, DDM+2

 

CONCLUSION (IF YOU DO NOT CLEAR OUT MOST OF THE DWARVES)

 

            The Lord Silvania declares the combined work of his Knights and the Burgomaster and townsfolk (which includes your group) to be a success.  The Dwarf Mountains are now free of Dwarf raiders, and His Royal Majesty King Frederick has awarded Sir Charles all lands north of the Elf Empire of Sylvania to be his County.  In celebration, the newly made Count of Silvania orders the burgomaster to through a great celebration, to be enjoyed by every woman, man and child, this Sunday after Church!  Each Character receives 1 ep.

 

CONCLUSION (IF YOU CLEAR OUT ALL OF THE DWARF RAIDERS)

 

            The newly made Sir Charles, Count of Silvania, having thrown a celebration this Sunday after Church, has two of his Knights escort you to Silvania Keep, after you eat of the dinner feast in the square. 

 

            “Reverend, Brother, Squire and Yeoman,” His Lordship addresses you. “I am personally indebted to you.  After the splendid and blessed success at uncovering and clearing out the Dwarf Raiders cave, my Knights were able to personally bring order to that entire region in only three days.  In many ways, I owe my new elevation as King Frederick’s governor in these parts to you.  Word of your performance during this holy quest will be sent to your highest superiors at the Imperial Capital.  That would include the Grand Knight of the Order of the Lion, for you worthy Squire. (The Order of the Lion (of the Tribe of Judah) is the most treasured Knighthood in the entire Empire of Anauria, with the Imperial Family holding the highest honors in it).

 

            “It may take quite a while for a reply; but be certain your reward here on Mondas will come in time, as your reward in Heaven will come in the fullness time.  God bless you all, brave souls.”  Each Character receives 2 ep.
