Memories of Grandma

I Remember Grandma.......

I remember going to grandmas for Sunday dinner and always knowing that you could count on chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and lemon meringue pie.  Grandmas was a good "old fashioned" cook.  Now a days they call it "comfort food"!

I remember grandma helping me make paper dolls from the Montgomery Ward catalog and making paste from flour and water.

I remember grandma walking me to the "little pink store" for some candy, or all the way downtown for a new little toy.

I remember grandma making late lunches of egg salad sandwiches and not being able to stay awake while the grown-ups talked.

I remember laying my head in grandmas lap while she softly stroked my hair.

I remember grandma and her sisters visiting and clucking in a language that I didn't understand.

I remember grandma going to church every Sunday.

I remember grandma patching our clothes and sewing on the treadle sewing machine.

I remember grandma embroidering pillowcases and crocheting beautiful lace on them, although she never knew how to read a pattern.

I remember grandma watching me and playing with me endless hours while I "tented" under her kitchen table or rolled on her green vinyl ottoman (green was grandmas favorite color).

I don't remember grandma ever saying that she loved me but I knew that she surely did.  It's curious but I don't remember grandma ever scolding me.

I remember grandma........and I always will...
