Oil infused with herbs can be used to make all the recipes listed that require oil. The most popular herb to use is Calendula.....NOTE Marigolds are not the same as Calendula altho they are in the same plant family it is only Calendula that has any medicinal properties. Calendula is used for it's healing properties. Comfrey leaf or root powder can be used also. Please see my Herb Properties Page for more information |

You will choose your container according to the amount of Calendula oil you want to make. I normally use a large mason jar. This is enough to make a family size portion of Calendula Balm. Fill your jar half way with Calendula flowers. Now pour your oil over the flowers, filling the jar but leaving a little head space. This is so when you shake your jar the flowers will be dispursed through the oil again.. Close your lid and place this jar on a sunny windowsil. Shake your jar once or twice a day for two weeks. When the two weeks are up strain the flowers from the oil using a fine strainer or a piece of cheese cloth. This oil will keep indefiently as long as your flowers were dry and no contaminates are introduced in the jar. |
