Ep4

    A man and woman are sitting in front of a fireplace. They kiss. She is afraid, but they continue. She gets hot, and he bursts into flames.
      Stone visits a college, and finds out that Roz got her B.A. in education. He hears the Devil nearby, counseling a young girl to pay her own way by stripping at bachelor parties. The Devil gives him his clue, a poem.

           Love wants a knight for a lover
           Good with his weapons and sweet-tongued
           A lady who lies with a man like that is cleaned of all her sins

     Stone checks on the poem in medieval studies, finds it is an old French poem. The expert, Professor Albright is in the hospital. Stone gets his home address.
      At Albright’s house, Stone finds a book with a handprint burned into it.
      At the hospital, he confronts John Albright with the book. Albright won’t give the name of the person who burned him; he claims it was a microwave cooking accident.
      Stone breaks into his office; finds love letters from Valerie Suzanne.
      The burning woman is at a shrink’s office, trying to get help and confess her sins. She says she loves Albright, but when he comes nears her, ‘the fire’. It is like that day…
      Stone is in a dorm. Carl, a resident monitor, stops him. Carl tells him about Valerie Suzanne, that she is ‘scary’.
      In her room, we hear chanting. She is stabbing a voodoo doll, and stabs herself accidentally. Stone sees that she is bleeding and realizes she is alive. He shows her the love letters, and she says she hasn’t seen him in over a year.
      In Albright's room in the hospital, Gwen enters, and says she is sorry, but they need to finish what the started.
      {Commercial}

    Ash is in the hospital room, asking him about the person who had just visited him. Albright still won’t identify Gwen, but says he is in danger from the person and needs police protection.. Ash leaves the room and sees Stone in the hallway. She calls to him, and they talk. She is subtly flirting with him.
      In Professor Albright’s class, the substitute teacher is talking about medieval life, and Gwen becomes passionately angry about it. She burns a handprint in her desk.
      Outside of class, Gwen is approached by Todd, who likes what she said in class.
      Stone sneaks into Albright’s room. He tries to get a name from him, but John calls for a guard. Stone hits the guard with a bedpan and runs. On the roof, the cops shoot him before he can explain who he is. He jumps off the roof and walks away.
      Gwen and Todd are in a pool. Gwen says she is ready to talk. She is stuck in hell, and love is just out of her reach. As they kiss, the water begins to boil.
      In the shrink’s office, Gwen is getting pissed. She says she is dead, has been dead since that day the squires came, three lances of them. After they had had their way with her, she looked for help. The reverend turned away, for they were of the Baron’s household. Just boys having their fun, said the sheriff. So she took a torch, made from the rags that had been her clothes, and then burned them all. Fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, she burned them. Now she can’t love, all she has to give is fire.
      Albright has police protection outside his loft apartment. Stone is inside, shows him a newspaper of Todd’s death, how he was boiled alive. Albright gives Stone Gwen’s name and mentions the school's shrink.
      The shrink says Gwen is she is suffering from post traumatic stress from a rape, and she can’t help her. Stone asks, it isn’t always true, some women can be helped, can't they?
      In the elevator, the devil shows up. Stone says he won’t send her back, and the devil threatens to replace him.
      Gwen shows up at John’s apartment, to finish what they started.
      {Commercial}
      Gwen goes to a bar, picks up a guy. They make out in the bathroom. She burns him. She calls the doctor to say she is cured.
      Stone is in the office when the call comes through. They *69 and find out where she is.
      At the club, she is picking up a new guy. Stone bumps him, then talks to Gwen and suggests they go someplace.
      Back at his place, she kisses him. He tells her that he is married, and what happened to his wife. She realizes he is there to take her back, and she attacks him. She tries to claw his eyes out, but he pushes her out the window, and shoots her eyes. Janitor comes out, and asks, ‘Where’s Lolita?’
      Stone sits thinking until dark.
