Frostbite/Hypothermia
These are not strictly the same condition, but often go hand-in-hand. Frostbite refers to the condition of the parts of the body. hypothermia means a low body temperature (below 99 F, 23 C. The treatment is basically the same. You'll need to warm the animal slowly. A warm bath for 15-20 minutes and a rapid dry-off using a blow dryer (be careful not to cause a burn) should work. Keep the animal warm with a hot-water bottle, a heating pad or a blanket. In the case of frostbite, keep an eye on the affected parts during the next few days. If the skin darkens, gangrene could be setting in and your vet should have a look immediately.
