The Mission of the HEMS Group

To encourage and equip Christian homeschooling mothers who are called by the Lord, Jesus Christ, to home educate their children. This is to be accomplished by supplying opportunities for prayer, Christian fellowship, sharing of ideas on home life,  curriculum resources and community resources.

HEMS does not support or denounce curriculum choices or homeschooling methods. Rather, our purpose is to encourage home schooling moms toward a better homeschooling experience as the Lord leads them.

The HEMS group (Home Educating Mothers Support group), formerly the Westgate Chapel Home School Group, is a non-denominational, Christian support group for home educating mothers. The meetings are for mothers only. (Children can not be accomodated at the meeting. Nursing babies are welcome.)

Membership is open to any home schooling mother or mother seeking information about homeschooling. Membership is not required to attend meetings but is required to receive the monthly newsletter.

Membership fees are $2 for the year for those receiving email newsletters, and $7 a year for those receiving newsletters by mail, effective Sepember 16, 2003.

Newsletters are delivered on or shortly after the first of every month, including the summer months when there are no meetings. Newsletter announcements include information on enrichment activities such as lessons, field trips, community events and more.

The group meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, (September through May,) 7pm-10pm, at the Garden Park Church of Christ, 8605 Salisbury Rd, west of Albon, Monclova, OH.  The church phone number is 419-868-7700.

Meetings usually include prayer, information on HEMS activities and field trips and a monthly topic pertaining to home education and/or home life.

It should be understood that due to the nature of our meetings all conversations shared at meetings are confidential.
