Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Health, to head the
Finance Committee of the National Council for Homoeopathy
Islamabad, November 2002: Through an amendment to the
Unani, Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic Practitioners’ Act 1965, the Federal
Government has taken away the powers of the National Council for Homoeopathy
to appoint the Chairman of its Finance Committee. The finances of the
Council will now be looked after by the Deputy Secretary (Budget) of the Ministry of Health who will be the Chairman
of the Finance Committee.
The accounts of the Council shall be maintained by one
or more auditors to be appointed by the Federal Government in consultation
with The Auditor General of Pakistan. The move has come in the wake of
allegations of serious financial bunglings by the members of the Council.
