What size windshield is right for me? |
With the various size windshields out there for the Helix how do you determine the size thats right for you? |
You need to as yourself the following questions. |
1. Do I look thru the windshield or over it. |
If you look through it and it doesn't bother you then get the biggest there is the more protection the better. |
If looking through it bothers you ( and some it does ) then you have to get one big enough to offer you protection while still staying out of your field of view. |
2. Do you want clear or tinted |
If you drive at night and look through the windscreen tinted is probably not a good idea. |
However if you drive in the daytime only or always look over the sceen then tinted is an option. It eliminates some of the road glare. |
Tinted screens are a topic of hot debate among bikers with good pros and cons from each side. |
My measurements for windscreen and my results: |
You need a tape measure and a carpenters level and of course your Helix parked on its center stand resting on back wheel not on front. |
Place level on top of windscreen and while at level measure down to the high tip at the front of the seat. |
On a stock screen it should be ___? ___ |
On a Hon H-4 is 29 inches. |

On a Hon H-3 is 28 inches. |
Next sit on the floor whith you back against the wall measure from the floor to eye level. |
I am 5'11" and my measurement was 33 inches |
When I sit on my Helix with the Hon+4 installed the top of the screen is just above eye level. ( yes I look throught the screen ) ( The wind however goes well above my head. ) |
I hope this has helped and not just confused you more. ( Any hints on clarification would be accepted. ) |
