MY REMEMBERED NSV'S
* What are NSV'S?
NSV stands for "NON SCALE VICTORY". I will share some of mine with you and you will catch on. Some times these are greater than watching the numbers on the scale drop.
I am asked all the time to share my secret to my weight loss. There is no secret, just WW and a lot of dedication.
One of the greatest NSVs' I experienced throughout my whole journey was each time I was able to fit into a smaller size. From a tight 20 to a comfy 6 :)
* I realized right at the beginning that WW is a lifestyle change, not a quick fix to lose a few lbs.
* I never deprive myself of anything I maybe craving or wanting. I just wisely fit it into my daily pts and enjoy.
An NSV I was actually looking forward to took place in Dec. at my daughter's Christmas program. As I was putting on the weight, I noticed that I could no longer fit comfortably in the school's auditorium seats. Actually, I was scared each time I sat down I would get stuck and not be able to get out. Well, in Dec I was actually able to sit in one and have several inches to spare. I was so excited that I wanted to jump up and tell everyone "Look, I can sit down and not get stuck!!"
* I joined WW on 3/7/02 and I have never missed a weigh in. Some times I wasn't able to stay for the meeting, but I was faithfully there to WI.
* Journal faithfully, if you bite it, write it.
*Water became my drink of choice.
* STAY OFF THAT SCALE!! Your weight fluctuates daily and even several times a day. This can be very discouraging to someone trying to lose. Weigh yourself the same day and time weekly.
A few months into my journey I was able to put my wedding rings back on. Since then I have had to have them sized down twice and ready to do it again.
* The point slider is the most reliable resource of points. Also, when given new WW recipes to try I always figured the points for myself.
My hands and arms no longer swell and go numb in my sleep.
* Exercise....I got my body moving even if it was just a short jaunt around the block. There are so many options when it comes to exercise any more, there is no excuse not to.
OK, another chair NSV. I actually got so big that when I set in my computer chair each thigh pushed up against the arms of it. If I set too long, it would leave impressions in my legs. Not any more!!!
I worked the overnight shift during 4 months of my journey. I hardly went any where or saw anyone. When I finally came back to the real world in August, alot of people didn't recognize me. I spoke to one person that I had known for awhile but hadn't seen and he said "Am I suppose to know you?"
* Speaking of excuses, NO EXCUSES is a great attitude to have while on Weight Watchers.
* I never let myself get in a rut & bored with the same exercises, food, and routines. I even varied my points from day to day and was always on the look out for new low point recipes to try.
I remember how excited I was when I was able to touch my thumb to my middle finger around my wrist.
* MOTIVATION....I always kept myself motivated by setting mini challenges for myself & joining challenges on the WW boards.
My face actually shrunk out of my glasses. DARN.....new frames :)
* I would keep clothes in view in my bedroom that were at least one size smaller and try them on every few weeks. Talk about motivation.
Another NSV that I experienced often during my journey and still yet do  is compliments. It is a great feeling when people notice. What is funny though is they will comment on how skinny you are getting, but did they ever tell you how fat you were getting????? Just a thought.
* I took a picture the day after I started my journey and several throughout my journey for comparisons. Some times you don't see the difference in a mirror like you do in a picture.
Here is a good one, when I hit a point that I could actually wear my teenage daughter's clothes. She thought it was great at first, and now she hides stuff from me LOL.
* I didn't take my measurements until I was 6 weeks into my journey and then every 4-6 weeks after that. I wish I would have in the beginning, but glad I started when I did. You will be amazed at the inches that fall off.
I went from a size 8 1/2 - 9 shoe to a 7 1/2-8 shoe.
I have inspired several friends/acquaintances to join Weight Watchers.
* I never left home and still don't without my points slider and Dining Out book.
I work in retail and not too long after I made goal I had to ask management for a back belt so that I could assist in unloading some pallets. They gave me a large and when I put it on it was way to big. Instead of having to ask for a larger one as I would have done in the past, I had to ask for a size small which they had to order!!!
**These are just a few of my remembered NSV'S. I will add more as they come to me or as I experience them.
Just remember, when those numbers aren't moving on the scale the way you would like, look for your NSV's and it will keep you motivated.
