Almost Famous (2000) Directed by Cameron Crowe Stars Patrick Fugit, Kate Hudson, Billy Crudup, Frances McDormand, Jason Lee, Fairuza Balk, Anna Paquin In Almost Famous Kate plays "Band-aid" Penny Lane and the film tells the story of a young journalist William Miller as he goes on tour with fictional 70`s rock band Stillwater on their Almost Famous tour. Along the way William grows up and finds himself enchanted by this new world and not least by the lovely Penny Lane. This has to be Kate`s finest performance to date and she deserves to win the oscar for it. Kate has the ability to show so much emotion and feeling without even saying anything. She is also beautifully filmed. One of the most touching scenes has to be when William tells her she has been sold to humble pie for fifty dollars and a case of beer and her eyes fill and she smiles and asks "What kind of beer?" What makes her performance so compelling is the way she comes off as assured and worldwise yet also innocent and fragile.Penny truly believes she is like a kind of muse for these rock stars who use her and deludes herself and Kate makes Penny entirely believable when she could have come off as being stupid. You should be really proud of him, cause I know guys and I`ll bet you do too and he respects women, he likes women and let`s just pause and appreciate a man like that. You created him out of thin air and you raised him right and don`t worry he`s still a virgin and we`re all looking out for him....That`s more than I`ve ever said to my own parents so there you go.
