and landed the role of Barnaby. "I remember this so well,"
recalls Alan's mother. "His daddy said to him, 'You do this, because it
may be the only time in your life you ever have an opportunity to do something
like this.' He was only 17, and that was the first time we ever saw Alan onstage."
