What Moms Learn

I gave you life,
but cannot live it for you.
I can give you directions,
but I cannot be there to lead you.

I can allow you freedom,
but I cannot account for it.
I can teach you right from wrong,
but I cannot decide for you.

I can offer you advice,
but I cannot accept it for you.
I can give you love,
but I cannot force it upon you.

I can teach you to share,
but I cannot make you unselfish.
I can teach you respect,
but I cannot force you to show honor.

I can advise you about friends,
but cannot choose them for you.
I can advise you about sex,
but I cannot keep you pure.
I can tell you about drink,
but I can't say "no" for you.
I can warn you about drugs,
but I can't prevent you from using them.

I can tell you about lofty goals,
but I can't achieve them for you.
I can teach you about kindness,

but I can't force you to be gracious.
I can pray for you,
but I cannot make you walk with God.
I can tell youhow to live,
but I cannot giv e you eternal life

A Child is like a butterfly in the wind
Some can fly higher than others,
But each one flies the best it can.
Why compare one against the other?
Each one is different.
Each one is special.
Each one is beautiful.
God give you lovely days
True peace, some gold,
And through the storms of life
His hand to hold;
And with the joy and pain
That life bring you,
God give you love
And friendship good and true.
God grant you walk through life
Not all alone,
But with the one you love
To call your own;
And if you should lose heart
For jest and song,
God give you joy again
And keep you strong.
God touch the shadows and
Let them be light,
That you may fearless be
When it is night.
God make your heart with
Peace and joy to leap,
Then pray, God take you home
And give you sleep.

Pink Yesterdays....
How can it be that when I bent to kiss you good night, my daughter, a beautiful young woman lay where only yesterday a little girl had been?
When did the barettes and ponytail ribbons of birthday party days give way to the styling comb and make up mirror of Saturday night dates?
Was it not only yesterday that crayons of all colours laid upon the table  where now bottles of nail polish rests?
How can it be that the buggy that you filled with all your dolls are pushed aside and new suitcases are there instead.Did you ever know that the finger you wrapped yourself around was tied right to my heart?
It seems the ink has just dried on the pages of your babybook and here we are laughing about the pages in your yearbook.
How did the ballet slippers of a little girl become the high heels of a young woman on her way?
Such a little while ago you cried: 'Mommy I'm scared' and now you whisper: 'Don't worry, Mom, I'll  be fine!'
When did the teddy bear you hugged all night become the image of someone you have chosen for life? How can it be the scent of baby powder turned instead to the scent of perfume, the giggles of a little girl turned into the laughter of a grown woman
Wasn't it only yesterday that ruffles and tea parties coloured my world pink and

today a new address and a good bye kiss stain my world blue?
How did it happen so quickly?
Thank you, Lord, for pink yesterdays!
