Jessica Wallace
In May of 2004, I graduated from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio with a B.A. in psychology. I plan to return to the Case campus to attend the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences so that I can obtain my Masters of Science in Social Administration with a concentration in aging. Simply put, my MSSA in aging! One of my passions is to pursue a career that will enable me to provide guidance, social support, and resources to the family caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's Disease. The lack of adequate resources and guidance has been problematic for many families, including my own, across the nation. This is a crucial issue that must be addressed in the near future as the number of individuals with this disease continues to rise. Many times the family has to rely on the internet or 'self-help' books in order to learn more about the hardships that both the individual and caregiver will inevitably encounter. These methods can be quite tedious, time-consuming, and most of all, confusing. I plan to change this and perhaps I can either take part in or develop a program that is aimed at the caregivers themselves.

Although I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta, a brittle bone disease, and must rely on a wheelchair for mobility, I am an extremely competent, independent, and lively individual. While attending Case, I resided in the South Residential Village without having to rely on any assistance whatsoever. I enjoyed the dorm life, I enjoyed the Case campus, I enjoyed the city atmosphere with the surrounding museums and other modes of entertainment easily accessible to me, and most of all, I enjoyed my independence.

Currently, I am seeking any job opportunity within the Cleveland area that pertains to my interests in Alzheimer's Disease and aging. I hope to return to Cleveland soon and set up my own apartment so that I can work to gain experience in my field. However, the job searching process has been difficult and frustrating at times.

If you happen to come across my webpage and have any suggestions for me as to what I should look into further in terms of my career, it would be greatly appreciated!! Feel free to email me or sign my guestbook!
