For his first eight years (?) his family lived in France . He attendeed a bilingual school there until his family moved back to England. Jamie received a first Class Honours Degree in Modern Languages (French and Italian) at St Johns College, Cambridge University. After that, he completed a post graduate course at the London Academy of Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) . (he began attending classes at LAMDA in 1996) Almost immediately after leaving LAMDA he won the role of Archie Kennedy in the Hornblower series. In between filming the Hornblower movies he film The Scarlet Pimpernel. As for his love life, I think the gals over at the Jamiebamber.co.uk site say it best : "He used to be single (and we were happy). Now he's happy (and we're still single ) with girlfriend/fiancee Kerry Norton . They plan to marry later in 2003." They just welcomed their first child into the world on Tuesday, June 10th.
