HHU Readers.....

Black Sky Cinema has moved along nicely in the last few months. I have secured 5 stations in Mn., with weekly timeslots, in 45 cities. I even had segments aired on our local access ch.6 in 80 cities.

I'm working on Iowa too, 2 stations are reviewing the show for content. One asked me "Is this show rated G?"   i said it's not Disney, but there's no real bad stuff!!

My director has produced for 25 years, and interned for Big Chuck and Lil John, and even ran cameras for a GHOULARDI interview.  He has amped the show up big time.  Tim McCoy is from Ohio , the HORROR HOST CAPITOL!

Rock & Roll Ray (HHU member)  plays several characters on Black Sky, and i'm directing/editing his new horror show called "GRINDERHOUSE HORRORS"   2 episodes so far, and taping 2 more on 3/15/05 .

There's a new horror show in Minnesota !  He'll have to fill you in on the details, for his HHU page.

I highly recommend doing a horror show, for those of you who dream of doing one.  I've done 52 shows in 18 months, and 6 specials, and it keeps getting more & more fun! I still give away FREE SHOWS TOO!  blackskycinema@yahoo.com

160 shows have been sent out, all over the country, and even Canada ,and Europe . Thanks HHU.....You're the best!!

Hey Guys,

Nice website. Just dropping a line to know if anyone out there is familar with an old Miami TV horror host from the 60's. The show was "Nightmare Theater" and the host was "The Ghostly Host". That intro to the show scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. Its was a disembodied head floating in an optical wheel. Do you guys have any info on it.

Thanks,
Al

Hopefully if someone has the information they either contact us or “E-gor” so we can fill in these gaps.

but low and behold there it is this morning.

Thanks to Larry Young for helping out with the design portion of the

I WAS A TEENAGE HORROR HOST!

Hey folks,

Just bumped onto your site. I was a horror host for a year or so dwon here in TN. I was the madness behind "Dr. Z's Radiation Theatre". Of coarse, I was Dr. Z. It was on the local access channel down here MBR-TV5. Although it only ran for a year, and it had a VERY low budget (read $0) it was a cool show that the locals dug. Would you include me in your hall of fame? I can provide you with pictures, episodes, whatever. I'm currently trying to get a website up and revive the doc...somehow. I'm sure it would help if I had the support of your site.

I grew up on the horror host and sadly it seems to be a dying art. Maybe 2gether we can revive it...or at least squeeze a few bucks from the corpse!!

Thanks,
Matt Hundley
aka Dr. Z

Send all the info, Matt!

I just got the chilling-to-the-bone news about Dr. Paul Bearer rising
from
the grave!!!

I'm in Pinellas Park (southwest of Tampa). I knew Dr. Paul Bearer (Dick
Bennick) personally. One of my classmates, at Reynolds High School,
used to
baby-sit his daughter.

My hometown is Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and that is where I
originally
knew him back in the 1960s.

Before inventing his well-known Dr. Paul Bearer character, he was a DJ
at
WTOB radio and would have weekly teenage Hi-Fi Club dances on Friday
and
Saturday nights. He was the "Dick Clark" of Winston-Salem. On a TV
station
in High Point, he had his own live dance show.

I played bass guitar in a band, Tommy Hailey & The Monotones. We would
play
for his dances.

I have an audio segment of his WTOB radio ad of him talking about these
dances. He would also do remotes at a WTOB radio booth set up at the
Forsyth
County Fair.

I don't have an exact date of this audio. I guess it was around 1961 or
1962. It was probably originally recorded direcly from a radio
broadcast on
my Sears Silvertone reel-to-reel tape recorder and then cut to vinyl by
me.
I had a vinyl record-cutting machine! How antique is that!

Tommy Hailey & The Monotones would also perform live each month for the
Saturday Morning Kiddie Show at The Carolina Theater. Sometimes Dick
would
be the MC and introduce us before the show.

Dick was also a record producer and had his own record label, Salem
Records.
He released music of local bands. My band was not one of them

His releases were 7" 45 RPM vinyl records. At the very bottom of one of
them
it says "Produced by Dick Bennick". One band was THE KING BEES, from
King,
NC. I saw and heard the band at one of his dances. On side one of a
"45"
that I have is "September Song". Side two has "It's A Sin To Tell A
Lie".
They are both instrumentals.

He may have released others of THE KING BEES. THE SATANS was another
band
on his label. I played bass with them.

Dick Bennick was invloved with a supper club. I have some newspaper
ads.

When I moved to Charlotte I met him accidently one day. He was there
buying
magician supplies.

I visited him at WTOG -TV in St. Petersburg while he was taping the Dr.
Paul
Bearer routines for future Creature Feature episodes.

My music is in the style of the music of the 1960s..the same kind of
stuff
Dick was playing on his radio shows... as well as at his Hi-Fi Club
dances
every weekend. So, I was influenced by the records Dick was playing!!
I've
remained true to that feeling.

Yes I still play music. I'm a solo artist. I have a 7" 45 RPM record as
well
as a three CDs. Two are for sale at cdbaby.com. My record label is
SAND AND
PALMS.

I have some newspaper ads featuring Dick and they are posted at the
Yahoo
group, TV Horror Host Fiend Club, of which I am a member.
