Keeping Bettas

A Guideline For Taking Good Care of Your Bettas

1. The Tank
Each fish should have a jar that is at least a quart big. They don't need a lot of water, so you can buy the petstore plastic quart jars that they sell for bettas. 2. The Gravel
You can use gravel or marbles. It is better to use gravel because bettas (females especially) can get caught in the marbles and not be able to get out to get air.
3. The Water
CHLORINE KILLS BETTAS!!!BE CAREFUL!!! This means that you shuold let the water sit for a couple of days or use a water conditioner. There are different kinds of solutions that can do this. They remove chlorine and things that are bad for fish from the water. Most take about a half of an hour to work.
4. Cleaning
Whatever you do, DON'T USE SOAP!!! It also kills bettas, so when cleaning out tanks and jars, use salts.
5. Temperature
The temperature of the water should be around 80. Anywhere from 78-82 degrees F.
