Regional Poster Project

 

         

Ok its time for your first major project!  You will research a region in Canada and create a poster which shows everyone that you know all about your region.  Make sure that you read ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS for this assignment. 

 

 

The regions are: The Canadian Cordillera, The Interior Plains, Canada’s North, The Canadian Shield, The Great Lakes Lowland, The St. Lawrence Lowland, and The Appalachian Highland.

 The five questions listed here are the ones that you must report on in your poster.  Make sure that you find as much information on these five questions as you can.  Follow the following suggestions to make your poster more effective (check website for more suggestions)…

 

1.      Use pictures!  Pictures make words more effective, and make your work pleasing to the eye.

2.      Take care of your poster, and ensure that it looks good!  Remember your work is a reflection of who you are, show the world how much pride you take in what you do

3.      Have your parents proofread everything that you put on the poster.  Believe it or not, your parents are pretty smart and can help you in more ways than you know.

4.   When researching on the internet, use a variety of key words.  (ie. instead of just using oil, use petroleum, fossil fuels.. and so on)

Poster presents an appealing layout that shows evidence of extensive planning.

Poster presents an appealing layout, yet, some aspects are unconnected.

Poster presents limited appeal and little organization.  Sections seem unrelated. 

Poster appears to have been hastily put together.  Sections are not related, and there is little evidence of care in final product.

Poster is messy looking, crumpled, and generally unattractive.  Sections are not presented separately, no pictures or visual components.

Grammar and spelling are error free.  Sentences are complete, indentation is present, and capitals are used where needed.

There is some grammar, and/or spelling errors, however these errors do not impede understanding of content.

Errors are common in both spelling, and grammar.  However general structure and construction of written pieces are acceptable.

Many errors in spelling and grammar which, in places, make reading and understanding of written section difficult.

Most words are misspelled, and grammar is seriously flawed.  Most or all sections of written component are difficult to read.

Information is relevant, and unique.  Facts are very interesting and presented in well organized concise sections.

Information is interesting, and some unique facts are present.  Sections are separate.

Information answers questions only.  Facts are limited and common (discussed in class).

Information is lacking in some areas, and there are little in the way of facts.  Some questions are not completely addressed.

Information is incorrect or does not relate to stated questions.

Evidence of many resources present.

Evidence of some diversity of resources present.

Limited resources, student appears to have consulted 1 or 2 different sources for information

Information is derived from one resource and class discussions only.

Information is from class discussion only and has no outside research present.
