Welcome to Mr. Hostetter's Web Page!

Hi, I am Mr. Hostetter. I grew up in Swaziland,Southern Africa. Swaziland is a kingdom. That means it is ruled by a King who has a lot of power. Siswati (similar to Zulu) as well as English were the languages spoken in Swaziland. You are welcome to learn Zulu by playing a game at this link: http://www.quia.com/dir/zulu/

I attended Berea College in Kentucky for my freshman year because it is a free tution college! The following year, I decided to transfer in order to be closer to my family in Harrisonburg, Virginia. I transfered to Eastern Mennonite University. At Eastern Mennonite University, I met my wife and graduated from EMU with a teaching certification for Kindergarten through 8th Grade.

Because I love kids and teaching, I am your 5th grade teacher at Mountain View Elementary School. I find it challenging and fun to incorporate technology into my teaching. You can check out my class web page that you will be using this year a lot during computer time. However, you might also use it from home to check your homework, class schedule or to take practice SOL tests!

My other love is spending time outdoors. My favorite activites include tennis, basketball, hiking, camping, and canoeing. My all-time favorite is spelunking in Virginia's caves. Most caves have bats but they don't bother you. Acutally, many cavers are killing off the bats .

I am also involved at Ridgeway Mennonite Church. I love the worship and the people who attend there. This year I decided to learn how to play drums so I am taking weekly lessons in drums.
