Welcome to the Tony Bruno Guitar Secrets page. Tony is my Alltime favourite Guitarist. He has played for a variety of people, which we'll get into, but mostly this page will be dedicated to his Tenure as the original Lead Guitarist in Danger Danger. So let's start with what I know. In the early 80's he played in a band called "Swift Kick" which was a band from the Long Island and New Jersey area and played a variety of cover tunes mixed in with some originals. The band recorded an EP in 1982, which I have no idea the name of. His next venture that I know of is the band Saraya that was formed in 1987, which consisted of Sandi Saraya (Lead Vox), Gregg Munier (Keys), Tony "Bruno" Rey, Gary Taylor (Bass) and Chuck Bonfante (Drums). In 1989 he agreed to help out his friends in the band Danger Danger who had no lead guitar player, so he recorded 90% of the guitar tracks on their debut cd to help them out, and as far as I know after that he introduced the band to Andy Timmons, a friend of his that he would jam with occasionally, and they made Andy their permanent guitarist. Andy only contributed 2 guitar solos on the debut Danger Danger cd, which are Boys Will Be Boys and Saturday Night. After Danger Danger he went back into the studio to record Saraya's second cd titled "When the Blackbird Sings" and later the band broke up and he joined Joan Jett and the Blackhearts for one album called "Pure and Simple". After this he once again helped out his buddies in Danger Danger who now had a new lead singer and again no lead guitarist, so when Bruno Ravel decided to take over the guitar duties, Tony stepped in to help co produce the cd with the guys, and help Bruno with some of the guitar tones and stuff which Bruno Ravel isn't so hot at developing. Tony has played on numerous Danger Danger tunes on the next 2 cd's which are 4 The Hard Way and The Return of The Great Gildersleeves, in which he shared the guitar duties with Andy Timmons, but not on the same songs. On the left I'll list the discography of Tony Bruno that I know of in the order that they came out and the year. Not all of the cd's listed has appearances by Tony. Dawn was only Co-Produced by Tony, he didn't actually play on the Cd. Before We move on to Tony's guitar sound I'll throw in a few pics that I found on a Saraya fan site which is pretty cool. To check it out click here. these pics are all from Tony's days in Saraya, when I find more from other bands I'll surely put them up. So Here Ya Go |
