Tips for Writing an Effective Resume 

 
 Keep it as short as possible. 
 Maintain a consistent writing style.  
Include a brief explanation of an organisation in your description if its name is obscure.   
Be concise and clear in your descriptions.   
Make sure that you have no typing,spelling, or grammar errors. Check for fullstops at the end of   all full sentences, be consistent with your punctuation, avoid using   exclamation points.   
 Do not use abbreviations or acronyms (Eg. STAR - Satellite Television Asian Region).    
Spell check. But remember that spell check doesn't catch everything. Always proofread your -  resume   
In most cases, a cover letter should be attached to your resume.    
Don't overcrowd your resume.   
Print final copies of your resume on quality paper.    
Double-check everything. Especially dates of employment, your address and phone number,   and the information of   the potential employer.   
 Keep your contact information current. Change your resume if you move or get a new phone number or email address.

Name: Your name should be right on top in bold and preferably center-aligned.
Contact Information: Preferably, put your current contact information right below your name including your contact number and email ID. Don't ever give the phone number of your current office when applying for another job.
Career Objective: Briefly convey how you are suitable for the job you have applied for, both in terms of specific skills as well as work experience. Try to include your major achievements and clearly mention your career goals. Ideally, limit it to about 4-6 lines.
Educational Qualifications: Chronologically mention your educational qualifications, preferably graduation onwards unless you had an exceptional result in the final year of school.
Summer Jobs/
Projects:
Mention any summer jobs or projects you may have done which are relevant the job you have applied for.
Work Experience: Mention work experience, preferably chronologically, starting from your most recent job. Always mention the name of the company, your designation and job profile. Highlight skills and special achievements or projects.
Exceptional Achievements: Mention any outstanding accomplishments you think would interest the recruiter.
Personal Details: Should include details such as date of birth, nationality, marital status, languages spoken etc. Hobbies or Interests can be mentioned if they are relevant to the post you are applying for. Personal details should always come at the end of the resume.

Your qualifications and professional experience would be more pertinent to a recruiter than your personal details.
