The Dyke ChroniclesTM
Part 1
This spring, I have begun a quest...a quest to meet HER.
Not necessarily the woman of my dreams or the one I would wear a "say no to dick" T-shirt for...just HER. That woman who`s confident enuff to approach me, but not arrogant about it..that one with her own personal style and quirky beauty...feminine but with a `pinch` of butch...just enuff to make me swoon

so back to my quest...so since I had previously gone the internet route, that is mos def not in my plans this time around. My plan is to, for the first time, immerse myself (or at least dip) into the "life". Now anyone who`s gay knows what the "life" is. Having been asked various times over the years "Are you in the life?", i had to figure it out for myself.

Basically the life is gay life..meaning you hang out in gay clubs, live around/with gay people and friends, eat at gay-friendly restaurants, take same-sex vactions at same-sex resorts, only patronize businesses who advertise in the Gay Yellow Pages (yes it does exist here in NY )...the whole kit and kaboodle...and maybe you even work at a company where your boss and most of your co-workers are gay. So okay i can`t be in the life completely cuz i`m not ready to move to the west village right now or quit my job to work at Calvin Klein. so i`ll just stick to the community center, clubs, and events for now.

So last Monday, the first really hot day here in NY all year, I began my quest. So i figured okay I`m looking kinda cute today...got my shorty shorts on with my cute new sandals and tank top...I decided to stop at a lesbian bar after work...just to sit in the bar, have a drink and take in the atmosphere...I remembered from a while back that there was this bar called Crazy Nanny`s in NYC...figured I`d drive over and see if i could find it....

I get to Nanny`s and the huge female bodyguard checked my id and let me in...not before she checked me out from head to toe of course...the place was pretty empty. Well it was Monday night afterall, i don`t know what the hell i was expecting...lol. There was a really cute black bartender and a couple of tough looking chicks playing pool off to the right. It was a dingy kinda place..everything was really old but it had a homey, intimate feel to it...all eyes were on me as i walked in...like they could automatically tell i had NEVER been there before...lol.

So I had decided beforehand that I was NOT gonna be approaching or hitting on anyone..I would be friendly but just chilling. So i walked over (slowly) to the bar, sat down and ordered a drink (no alcohol cuz i don`t drink)...the bartender told me that its slow during the week but there are parties on Fri Sat and Sun nights...i made a mental note to come back...bartender was cool...not flirty or anything...the two other girls that were in there talking smiled at me but that was it..they seemed like regulars.

So as i sat, i noticed that everyone who came in, knew everyone else...i guess that`s not atypical for any neighborhood bar, but it was interesting nonetheless..and each person gave everyone else that "who the hell is she" look once they noticed me...it was funny...i just played some songs onthe jukebox, bobbed my head and chilled out for about an hour...ate some popcorn, watched them play pool...then once i realized nobody was gonna try to pick me up, i paid for my drink and headed home...

score one for their team....and i need a new strategy, lol
