The following poem was the second place winner at the Blue Mountain Arts Poetry Competition. We are honored to present it here.

That Little Window

There it is.
That little window...
That brings you to me
Filling up
With your words and mine
As we give them away
And take them to heart

It's late...
and everyone else is asleep
But for us...
It's only the start of the night
The start of our journey
That takes us to places
That nobody else
Could help us to find

Minutes flow into hours
And soon the hours
Have flown away
The night has turned into morning
And we must face another day

But we have those minutes
Those hours
The words that we said
The thoughts we expressed
The ideas we exchanged
The feelings we felt
They're still in our minds
Still in our hearts

We take them along
As we go through our day
Keeping them close
So they don't fly away
So we can come back
At the start of the night
And open that little window again.
