November 1st
I had a very dull Halloween, not one kid came at least last year I had a few. Today has been pretty good. The NH administrator called me to inform that they were having a care planning meeting this Friday for mom. They were told that I was unsatisfied with mom's treatment and wanted to fix it, I felt good to know they were concerned enough to do this. I went to a pizza joint tonight for my grand-daughters soccer awards, that was really fun. I go to the oncologist tomorrow for my three month check up, this is a new doctor for me too so I am a bit nervous tonight, guess I'll go to bed early since I can now days.

November 2nd
My appointment went great. The doctor feels I am just fine with no signs of anything to worry about. She is sending me to an eye, ear, nose and throat doctor for my sinuses and a mammography on 12/21 and I do have Fibromyalgia but that is it. I don’t see her again until February 15th, my birthday of all days. I wasn’t able to see mom today because it took so long at the doctor but I did call her, boy was that a trip. She had no idea what was going on nor who I was, oh well it was good to hear her voice.

November 3rd
I went to see mom today after lunch. She was her old self, she knew me right away and introduced me to the staff, she was in such a good mood. The nurse on duty informed me that she had the visiting doctor check out mom’s bottom and she authorized a different cream to use to help clear her up faster. I checked it and it did look a little better, of course she had her bath this morning also. I am going to take mom out to lunch tomorrow, to the restaurant near her NH.

November 7th
Mom didn't want to go to lunch the other day so I didn't make her or push the issue, we sat and visited instead. I haven't done much the past few days, I've been tired and depressed as a result of it. Guess I am in a winter funk, it'll pass soon though. Getting ready for Thanksgiving and such.

November 8th
I went to see mom today, she looked so cute. Someone had curled her hair and painted her nails for her, she wanted to go out carousing. I was there right during lunch and she ate all of her meal and was encouraging Millie to eat hers also, the staff said that she always helps them to get Millie eating. We are going to lunch tomorrow, "Only if we can go to McDonalds!", so we will.

I haven't updated in a while because I have been awaiting test results from my doctors. I have been down because I thought I was finally getting back to being normal and then find I have a new set of problems. I kept thinking I have been through enough already and just couldn't take anymore, but somewhere deep inside I found the ability. It isn't anything too serious, THANK GOD, I do have to have to get radioactive Iodine and some other medications now because the chemo messed up my thyroid (over active) which is what has been giving me the fatigue, achiness, sleeplessness etc. once this is cleared up I should begin to feel alot better. I am also in menopause, again thanks to chemo (my age has nothing to do with it.. LOL) and have been placed on Estrogen. I go to nuclear med on the 18th for a thyroid scan and back to the doctor on the 19th. Mom and I did go to McD's and she loved it, getting out of that place for little, unfortunately Ronnie wasn't around. She does seem to be doing better everyday and so is the staff, her bottom is completely healed now and she hasn't had any other troubles.

I had such a good time with mom today. She is in the choir at the NH and they are practicing Christmas songs for the program they are going to put on so mom and I had to go to her room so she could practice with me, boy, the hounds were howling the entire time. We snag Christmas songs and old time gospel songs for nearly an hour and a half, mixing uncontrolled laughter amongst the lyrics. We couldn't remeber some of the words so I would hum the melody, I guess I was repeating myself because mom pipes up with, "What happened? Did your needle get stuck?", and burst out laughing, we nearly pee'd ourselves. All the commotion was enough to bring the nurse, aide and a few residents into her room, they joined in to sing Jingle Bells with us. I haven't had so fun with mom in a very long time.

November 18th
Well I went in today and got my radioactive iodine pill now I have to go back in a few hours for the scan itself, at least I can have my coffee and toast now.I haven't seen mom since Monday but I will after the test this afternoon. I talked to my brother earlier and he is coming up for Christmas, it will be nice to see him and mom will be thrilled to see her real son instead of thinking I am him or maybe she'll think she had twins. LOL

Went back for the scan this afternoon, the results were great. The uptake was less than 1, which is good, the doctor doing the test concluded that I have sub-acute thyroiditis which will clear itself up in a few months, nothing more than an inflammation. I go to my regular doctor tomorrow for some medication that will help ease the symptoms. I am so glad to have this over with, my nerves are frayed enough without developing something new every other month.

I did it, I placed a bill into next months worries and took my grand-daughters to see Disney on Ice - The little Mermaid then we went to a really fun, crazy ice cream parlor. I hadn't been able to take them anywhere or do anything with them for so long that I just did it and it felt good. We had such a great time, the performance was wonderful and so colorful. We had perfect seats and were able to see everything, this was a first for Jaide and Kali so they were awe struck. At the ice cream parlor Kali was laughing so much she could barely eat her ice cream, this place makes a big tado for birthdays and ALL of us had to sing,it is a very loud kid oriented place. When we got back Kali asked if she could watch t.v. in my room, she no sooner turned the channel but what she was asleep, a big day for her. After mom and dad picked them up and tucked Kali into her bed, Mel(mom) and Jaide went to see Granny to tell her all about the excursion. Mom laughed at Jaide's excited way of telling the story and requested copies of the pictures to hang in her room.

Well, mom is here, I picked her up around 2:00, she is so happy to be home and does remember it here. She helped me some in the kitchen with the baking but mostly just helped me 'taste test' some of the extras to make sure it was good. SMILE. I am about done with my baking, thank goodness since it is already midnight. I am fixing a 22 lb turkey and a ham so it will be an early morning for me. I do hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, I know the food will be cold by the time I get done giving thanks.

November 26th
We had a great time with mom being here, she loved it too. We ate and ate, mom really packed it away yesterday and today. She slept real good and even asked if it would be o.k. for her to sleep in a little since she was home, I let her. Today was hard though, mom looked so sad when we left the house to take her back and even sadder when I left her there. I’m not sure it was good for either of us, I can imagine how hard taking her back to the NH will be after Christmas. I asked the staff to keep an eye on her for me so they could report her demeaner to me after this outting. I left her in the dining room with her friends playing bingo so maybe this will make her happy, I sure hope so.

I have LOST ALL ICQ numbers and EMAIL addresses, so if you were on my list for either I would appreciate a note so I can re-add all of you.

November 28th
I have been spending the past few days getting as much Christmas present buying as I can since I am having surgery tomorrow. I hate this, I can't help put up the lights outside or even go to get the tree like always, doctors love to make ones live miserable. LOL. I won't even be able to mom for for at least two weeks, but I will be able to call her.

November 30th
I have survived the knee surgery, it hasn't een hurting too bad until tonight, I guess having two Rotties run itnto it didn't help it much.LOL. I will be able to go to see mom sooner than I thought too, I am able to walk with weight on it now for short distances although I am over doing it according to Robert and Crystal, my watch dogs. SMILE. They are outside putting up lights right now, I am so anxious to get the decorations done, I am behind schedule as it is.
