MISSION STATEMENT

OA ANON AND RECOVERY

The OA ANON and Recovery List is a Special Interests Loop of the Recovery Group. Our group is patterned after the effective group of AlAnon ~ a group associated with AA. Neither the OA ANON and Recovery Loop nor the Recovery Group is affiliated with any other organization or outside entity. Our primary purpose is to help OA ANON and friends of those suffering from compulsive overeating and other eating disorders recover from the effects of these diseases. The only requirement for membership is to have a relative or friend who has an eating disorder.
The disease of compulsive eating affects not just the compulsive eater, but also those they must interact with each day of their lives. Because those with food disorders LIVE in their disease, it is sometimes difficult to realize that not everyone thinks and feels as they do ... and this many times can cause problems in inter-personal relationships.
Compulsive Overeaters have their support groups ~ they have people who understand exactly how things are for them. OA ANON and Recovery is a support group ... not for COEs ... but for those they love. For those whom they want so desperately to help and understand them.

OA ANON AND RECOVERY

Dear New Member,
Welcome to the OA ANON and Recovery Loop. You are here because you have a family member or friend who is a compulsive eater or who has another eating disorder and you want to give him/her the most support you possibly can. We are similar to Alanon ~ except OAanon. While you may not have the disease of compulsive eating yourself, you are affected by it deeply.
The OA ANON and Recovery List is a Special Interests Loop of the Recovery Group. Neither OA ANON and Recovery nor the Recovery Group is affiliated with any other organization or outside entity. Our primary purpose is to help OA ANON and friends of those suffering from compulsive overeating and other eating disorders recover from the effects of these diseases. The only requirement for membership is to have a relative or friend who has an eating disorder.
When you join us, please feel comfortable in introducing yourself ~ because it is in the sharing of common problems that we do one another the most good. One of the services of our group is that you will receive special inspirational writings from the Recovery writers and you may share that with the CO whom you love. All other shares on this loop are private and should never be shared with anyone. Anonymity is important here.
We are in the process of developing an OA Anon website and, if you would like to help with that, please let the OA Anon Coordinator know.
