At this time we are finishing the evaluation of an bio-assay with three molecules, 2 in-case-micro(deltamethrin and lambdacyalothrin) and another wet powder presentation(bendiocard). Later we will present the results of our evolution.
Basic Advise for Scorpion Control
Before presenting specific technical questions on scorpion control we list here some basic procedures to avoid presence of these animals.
We have already misled on the matter of chemical poisons used against scorpions. It only brings a false sense of safety to the user. We do repeat-until today no true poison against scorpions has been known to cause positive results in scorpion control
The most reliable way to protect ones home against poisonous scorpions is PREVENTION, wich can be done through following simple instructions.
First fine out if there is a Health Public Service responsible for poison animal control, in your city or town.
Remember that every citizen has the right to request for public health services.
In case your home-town does not offer this kind of services, take your own steps related to preventing scorpion accidents within your home.
They are as follows:
Keep your home and yards free from garbage which should be well kept inside plastic bags and regulary delivered to the public trash colletors. Everyone is responsible for the trash produced in their own house. Never leave it at random or in empty lots.
Garbage produces the food scorpions need to survive, which are innumerable insects attracted by rotten matter in peoples home garbage(specially cockroaches). Do not let your residence wall be covered by thick foliage - they provide easy access for scorpions
into your yard and house.
Cover floor drainers in bathrooms and kitchens and keep doorways protected with mats, floorcloths or any other material, so the scorpions won't enter your house specially at night. Scorpions have night habits.
If ever there's a sign or case of
scorpion presence inside the house - do examine the bed sheets and blankets before lying in bed and shake shoes before putting them on. Don't let mosquito nets from baby cribs hang and touch the floor. In case of accidents call medical help

Occurrence of Scorpionida in the City of Uberlândia - MG - Brazil
Tityus serrulatus
Tityus serrulatus(yellow scorpion) is present in most sections of Uberlândia, specially in the central and old sections.
Tityus bahiensis
Bothriurus araguayae is very common in Uberlândia. It's harmeless and should be preserved. It's found in the outskirts of the city and in the fields.
The expression "Black scorpion" is mostly used relating to Tityus bahiensis,also found in this region.
