Hi, my name is Richard Simpson. I live in Bowling Green, Kentucky and am suffering from a degenerative eye disease known as retinitis pigmentosa. I'm here, not for anyone to feel sorry for me, but to make people aware of the disease and to gather information. I am in the process of trying to get a legal visa to enter Cuba to get an operation that hopefully will at least stop the degeneration. I am a husband and father of two sons. I still work but am not sure how much longer I will be able to because it becomes increasingly difficult to see. Several other members of my family suffer from the same disease and are already totally blind. I want to see my sons grow up, go to college, and have families of their own. This is not too much to ask...what I ask of you is to browse my web pages and learn more about retinitis pigmentosa. I welcome your comments, ideas, and suggestions. If I am able to go to Cuba for this operation, I will put my experiences and progess on here as well. Wish me luck!

The following links will take you to:

contents of a pamphlet that gives a wealth of information about the disease, people who have had the operation, etc.,

an article published about my fight for a legal visa to go to Cuba for the operation,

an editorial that appeared in our local newspaper after the feature article appeared, and

some links of similar pages belonging to people with retinitis pigmentosa and organizations involved with it.
