Judy's 15 Week Update

Now at 15 weeks I’m starting to feel more “at home” with my new stomach. I’ve had episodes of overeating, or eating things that didn’t agree with me, but each time I’ve come through relieved that it wasn’t too bad, I survived and most importantly that I’ve learned what my limits are.

I’ve lost 72 pounds. I haven’t been exercising as much as I should but I am still thrilled with the results so far. I’m looking forward to going home this weekend and setting myself up with an exercise program. I’m also looking forward to seeing my husband. He’s been so patient and supportive with all this; there aren’t enough ways to thank him.

This past weekend we cleaned out Hilary’s closet. There were bags of clothing to be donated to the “closet” at Bellflower. Fran’s daughter, Rachelle (sorry about the misspelling Rat) agreed to help get the clothes deposited for us. Thanks Rat!! The funny part was when I was carrying the big garbage bags down the stairs from Hilary’s apartment… I made trip after trip and wasn’t even winded or anything. It wasn’t until the next day that I mentioned to Hilary how surprised I was by the fact that I could troop up and down those stairs carrying 10 or 15 pounds of stuff and I wasn’t even tired. She said “Well Mom, you’re carrying over 70 pounds less with you each time you go up and down, no wonder it’s so much easier”. I got a flash of carrying a 70-pound bag of sand… My heart must be so much happier. Each day just feels so much better.

One of my goals when I get home (after I clean out MY closet) is to begin to work on a book about our experiences. What we’ve learned from the people we’ve met in addition to our own personal stories. It will also cover some of the nitty-gritty stuff that doesn’t seem to get answered anywhere but a support meeting. For people who live outside of California and may never get to a support meeting or who get tired of hit and miss answers that they may get on the Internet, I’m hoping that a book will help. Hopefully there will be an interest. I’m certainly not going to try to get it “published” or anything, but Kinko’s will help me get the job done just fine. I figure people are more interested in substance than packaging. Anyway, I plan to make it available through this site and maybe another. We’ll keep you posted.
