One day she was laughing,
Smiling, talking, here
Images of her dance in our minds
And we wonder, why?
A face that always smiled
A girl who always laughed
Eyes that always sparkled
And we wonder, why?
Today no one is laughing
She won't smile or laugh
She is gone
And we wonder, why?
She was our friend
She was our sister
We loved her
And we wonder, why?
No one knows why
No one noticed the pain
The hurt, the suffering
And we wonder, why?
She hid it from us
Pushed it deep down inside
Acted happy and we bought it
And we wonder, why?
It is our fault
Should we have known
Was it something we did
And we wonder, why?
Why did she leave?
Why did she go away?
Why her, why me, why now?
And we wonder, why?
We were so caught up in ourselves
So self-addressed
Now she is gone
And we wonder, why?
We will never see her smile
We will never hear her voice
Never be able to tell her
we care.
To ask her,
Why?
