Femoral head (head of the tigh bone) is removed.
The socket on the hip bone is reamed for the artificial socket.
The socket is placed
Femur is reamed to have the right shape.
Femoral stem is placed in the femur.
In cemented bonding the femoral stem is "glued" to the femur by epoxy.
In uncemented version, the bone itself forms the bonding.
Then the ball (femoral head) is attached and artificial joint is formed.
The prosthesis reduces the pain which may sometimes totally prevent ambulation and it also reduces the limp caused by a dislocated hip.
