I like this site. It's a little scary because I have CP. I was reading your information and it kind of scared me. I'm 29 years old and am starting to fill some of the things you talk about. Like one big factor is my balance. I'm not able to keep my balanc when I stand for a long time. My bones hurt more now in the cold weather.I needed an apperation on my knee a while back because I had tore some legaments. I am not that scared because I know my father Jesus is with me. I was born with Cerebral Palsy, spastic parapris?, that effects my right side of my body. This causes me to be left handed instead of right handed. As well to have tight tendions in my right leg. This web page is wonderful and taught me a lot about CP. I did not know a lot about it growing up. One thing I did do for the local CP center by me is be poster child in 1986. I helped raise money and show that I can do things even though I have CP. Right now, I am a 2nd year college student and proud to have CP. It is what makes me unique. I had sang and danced in my high musicials as well sang in Disney world twice! Keep up the good work on the page and teach others about CP!

My 6 year-old son has cerebral palsy. If I think of the future, it becomes overwhelming... One day at a time is the best way to go. He has great potential... if only society would be less hostile. He's handicapped only in relation to what's around him. I ometimes remind him that if he were in outer space, he would not have a handicap... he would just float around. He gets a kick out of that. My sone is having a femoral/pelvic osteotomy this wednesday and I was not completely certain of the explanation the surgeon gave as to why he was doing the femoral rather that the pelvic osteotomy. Now I understand the information and procedure better. Many Thanks for the info as I was having many sleepless nights thinking that my son, who just turned 8 was being shortchanged. He had had a rhizotomy and he was just starting to walk really well in his gait trainer when his hip came out of socket. After the doctor explained what he was going to do and that his leg would be about an inch shorter that the other, I was afraid that he would have trouble in his walking program. Your information relieved my fears.

Hi, I enjoyed reading all I could about Cerebral Palsy. I have CP. I have difficulty walking, only. My upper body appears to be fine. I use no wheel chairs, or crutches, I have no problems in life with pain, or anything. When walking, I feel im stable, ba anced, although, when I see myself walking like in a mirror, it looks worse than what I see through my eyes, therefore I don't lie mirrors. I will return to read up more, I can relate to so much. I was in an automobile accident at the age of 2, in 1963. I was in a coma for a short period, seems I came out fine.
