| History of the Site: Houdini's Hideaway was born in March 2000 on Expage.com It started as a personal little page to entertain mostly me. It was very corny, only had Expage.com images, and was mostly text. It was named after my pet rabbit, Houdini. If you intrested in viewing the old Expage.com version, then you may do so here. Anyone who wants to learn more about Houdini, the site mascot, can visit his page here. In July 2001, Houdini's Hideaway moved to Yahoo Geocities because I wanted to expand the site, and try to make it something better. I wanted to use my own music, and clip art files, and make it much more interactive. Expage.com is a wonderful place for beginners or HTML junkies to make webpages, and it is wonderful if your site is going to be all text, but that wasn't for me anymore. I've never regretted my move to Yahoo Geocities because I think it has done miracles for the site. In March 2002, two years after the site had first come to life, an exciting new change had taken place. The special cartoon dolls section, which was created under a seperate account because the cartoon dolls took up too much space, was created. It was this cartoon dolls section that brought people to the site, and introduced them to all the wonderful other features that made them stay and come back over and over again. Suddenly, I was getting hits from people all over the world. Working on this site is a wonderful hobby for me. It's one of my most favorite thing to do. I know that sounds very dorky, but I don't care. I love my website, and I am very proud of it. |
| Site Purpose The purpose of this site is purely entertanement, mostly for me. I think I'd still pour as much time, energy, and work into if I never received a single visitor simply because I love it! When you do something you enjoy, it never seems like work, and so this is not work for me. I don't make any money off of the site. Maybe someday when I'm a lot older I might try turning it into a dotcom and selling ad space, but that may never happen. I think it might distract me from making the site the best I can, and having fun with it! Afterall, this site is just entertanment, and it's supposed to be fun! For me and for you! |
