7/27/02 I have completely rexixed The Task of...Danrro demo. It isn't as muddy anymore and definitely more powerful in this new light. Improved mp3s are now up on soundclick.com. If you want a copy of the newly remixed version, drop me a line here.
3/28/02: To anyone who knows at all about this Danrro stuff, the thought of creating an info page for it seems pretty futile, but you know I love comedy;-) Seriously, if you don't already know, The task of...Danrro is this demo of new wave/synth pop I came up with awhile ago. I had just graduated from college--it was a pretty weird and new time in my life and coming up with this stuff seemed to complicate things even more;-) One day I was just sitting on the couch and looked over at this old synth I've got (though I had never played keys at that point) and something just clicked in my head. I wrote 8 songs on the spot from thin air, filled out another three messing around during the recording process, and that's how it was born. Though it sounds very 80's, I only owned any old albums in this style after I recorded Task. My only intake of anything played on keys before and during the creative process for Task was my Quintron CDs. Needless to say, for a guy who lives for playing guitar, this was quite a shock to the system to have done something completlely devoid of guitars. I really didn't know what to think of this Danrro stuff for a long time but I've actually grown to like, accept, and even love it over time--it really captures where I was at that specific point in my life and is way more personal than I first gave it credit for. That being said, I've recently had an urge to give the old synth/new wave thing another try. With this stuff, there's not much of a sneak preview I can give, since I really don't know how to play keys and have written very little stuff in this style. The working title will be Danrro thaws out!!! I do have one song for this and it's in the Gary Numan vein, though not as obviously inspired as "We Close Our Doors" was (for the record, I really didn't own any Numan albums until after Task was done--I can't explain at all where it came from). I've got a ton of other stuff to record before I get to this but I do intend to do some more Danrro. As always, these plans are subject to change. If anything does change, I'll post an update. Till then, you can still listen to/download tracks off The task of...Danrro on soundclick.com. Any feedback provided on this stuff is greatly appreciated. Enjoy! |
