Chapter 24
The following afternoon, Lord Alixandre awoke the silent form lying on the bed with his presence upon her.   She felt her body being drawn against his. Please do not let him have of what he wishes she prayed to the Good Lord above.  Her prayer had been answered of that but he then dragged her unmercilessly from the comfort of it.
Her eyes fully widened by the disruption of her slumber was  a pleasant sight for the Lord."You seem surprised to be acknowledged by myself."
"Because you have not graced me with your presence for days Alix."
"You will adress me as the Lord of the manor."
"I will adress you as the vile human being that you are."
"You have not seen your dear sweet Colin now have you."
"I have not, "she lied.
"My ears have stumbled upon the incessant sobs your body is wracked with night after night."
"Is that before or after you have drained the life from Mistress Marie?"
"Who has become the vile one now Milady?"
"It is only because you have made me of what I am today."
"I do not guide your emotions fair one.  I only relish in their demeanor.  Take head my love, seduce the young Master Henry into doing your bidding once again and I shall be forced into disgracing your family's name by banishing you alongside your lover.  You will not know of pain until you are left to rot with the fetid creatures that have crossed me."
"Is that all?"
"That shall be all for today,"he released his grip on her dressing gown and started toward the door.
"Those sobs you hear of Milord."
He turned back on her words. She was a willful one despite all his punishings."Yes?"
"They are of sorrow for he holds my heart no longer.  Rest assured or would that I could, I would take your life myself for all the horrific things you have inflicted upon  him."
"You have inflicted these horrendous crimes upon him Milady.  You could not contain your desires whence you knew of their consequences."
"Consequences or no, I would not change one moment of every night he shared my bed."
He crossed the room and took his anger out upon her cheek."That is but a warning Milady.  I shall not be so kind in my dealings if it were to happen again.  I should have banished you eons ago for all the anguish you have caused my life."
"I have not caused your suffering.  I have merely been but an imposition to the life you desired to  lead.  You took my hand in marraige to accomodate the life you now do lead.  Do not blame me for your weaknesses."
"What such weakness do you speak of?"
"Mistress Marie. Does she not hold a place in your heart Milord?"
"I love no heart Symonne.  You should know of that."
"You defend yours.  You hide it from the world for if they knew, they would not treat you as the strong willed white knight that you claim to be."
"You speak so freely of my heart.   I do not share my love with any woman."
"Then the Mistress shall be all too pleased to be released from her duties at your side."
"I shall not give her up."
"I shall not  give her up? You just laid proof of my statements.  She holds your heart as I never did."
"What is it that you require of me Symonne?"
"Release me of this prison and I shall keep your secret within these walls.  Release Master Colin to his family and I shall keep your secret from the prying ears of the villagers and surrounding countryside.  In return, you shall have your happiness and I shall stay and suffer the rest of my days for my indiscretions."
"It shall be done then."
"No queries?"
"You are willing to suffer.   That is all the joy in the world I require."
"One more request my betrothed."
"Yes?"
"I wish to be there at his release."
"Why so?"
"For  proof that you do not keep him bound by the iron cages."
"So it shall be but I would watch myself for the walls have eyes."
