Chapter 3
"Read any good books lately Kev?"Leigh commented as she picked up the romance novel from the end table as they retired to the  living area after dinner that evening.
"What?"
"This."  She held the book up for his view.
"Oh,"he replied flatly."Kris must have forgot it with all her stuff.  I'll make sure she gets it."
"Why don't you read it?"
"You're asking a man to read a romance novel Leigh,"Brian interjected.
"But you read it,"she argued.
"But I'm different from most guys."
"It's a good book Kev."
"Forever Yours huh?"Kevin inquired skeptically. "So what's it about?"
"It's kind of a time period piece."
"Kind of?  Either it is or it isn't."
"Look at the cover."
He looked at the cover. The usual hero/heroine stance of her dipped back in his arms against the setting of the story.  Leigh was right .  It was different.  The man wore khaki slacks with a leather bomber jacket open to display his well defined physique.  The woman however was dressed in a long, flowing gown with a burgundy bodice and ivory sleeves and skirt.  He studied her features.  The hair. The hair was golden blonde and piled on top of her head and the eyes.   The eyes!   It was her. The woman in his dreams.  Maybe he was just conjuring her up.  Maybe she was just a dream.  But she had been there.  Hadn't she?
Brian waved his hand in front of Kevin's face pulling him out of his trance.
"Sorry Bri."
"Where were you?"
"The dream."
"The dream?"Leigh Anne inquired.
"You mean you didn't tell her this?"
"Yeah."
"Colin,"the voice beckoned.
"Did you guys hear anything?"he asked.
"No.  So what's this dream about?"Leigh repeated her question.
"It's crazy but I find myself trying to rescue this woman from  a plunge to her death on  the rocks below.  Like it's a cliff on the edge of the sea.  I don't how I got there or how she did but all I know is I constantly am unable to rescue her and she falls."
"Colin,"she called once again and  he could feel her breath on his neck.  He turned but saw nothing.
"Shit!"Kevin said jumping off the couch.  There are people in the room and I can hear her.  I can hear her but they can't.
"What's wrong?"Brian requested.
"I swear I keep hearing voices.  You guys aren't hearing anything?"
"No.  So continue,"Leigh ordered.
"That's it.  Maybe I am going crazy but this girl on the cover is the exact same girl in my dreams."
"Maybe you just had a deja vu or something?"Brian suggested.
"Deja vu?  I don't even have dreams like this Bri.  I've never seen this book until now.  Kristin's only been gone a couple of months.  You think I would have noticed this in my own home."
"Maybe you've just passed by it enough that somewhere in your subconscious you dreamt her up."
"I'll settle for any reasonable explanation at this point."
