The Tower

I have drawn what I think is a pretty common tower with the classic bolt of lightening hitting it, representing a breaking down of existing forms. Try as I could, I could not draw the figures falling from the tower so after rethinking my scheme I have two people on the ground. They are wearing the traditional colors of blue and red, symbolizing the conscious and subconscious. Each person is wearing the colors in a different order symbolizing that they have different views or priorities.

There are bars on the windows symbolizing restricted thought processes, and holding ourselves back from progress, the light from the windows is brown, showing murky or wrong thinking.

The lightening bolt is coming from a star showing that the message brought by the lightening bolt was from the spiritual to the material. It is an 8 pointed star which I knew to be an emblem of Firefighters, standing for the> bravery and heroics shown by them. Happy has shared with me that it is also the Cross of St. John with each of the 8 points representing a Knightly virtue (tact, perseverance, gallantry, loyalty, dexterity, explicitness, observation, and sympathy). The star is directly over a small city off in the distance. The star is also symbolic of reaching for the stars, and the true security and strength that comes from within, whatever our own definition of spirituality is. The town is showing the true isolation that the tower is in, far from everyone else.

When difficult changes present themselves to us we usually have few choices. We can do nothing. Keep our old way of thinking, no matter how outmoded they may be. Stick to the old methods of thinking, being, doing. Or we can move away from these old methods and make room for new ways.

The ground around the tower is brown symbolizing no growth, barrenness. The man and the woman are on opposite sides of the tower. The man is walking towards a sign advertising a remodeling company that guarantees that it can rebuild so you will never know the difference. The earth is darker brown here to show that this method will be the one to prevent absolutely any new growth. On the other side the woman is standing, waiting, and at her feet there is some new growth. Coming down the road from the city is a moving truck with the slogan "moving you to a new start" printed on the side. It is heading for the tower. Perhaps the woman will take it, or perhaps she will decide to join her husband on the other side of the tower. The city here represent the removal from isolation, among others is where salvation can be found. The road close to the tower is brown, as it gets closer to the city you can see signs of growth.

In the Upper left corner is the planet Mars, which rules this card.
