Update from Hank:
In November 2003, a dynamic and energetic new APC Executive was elected, one which I am honored to work with as we have been setting our goals for the next two years.
We have been successful in recruiting 10 aboriginal candidates to run in the upcoming National Election. The APC's National executive has been working diligently in preparing an aboriginal information kit that will be distributed to all Liberal candidates throughout Canada. If any aboriginal liberals would like to view a copy of this document, please feel free to contact me.
The National APC recently shared a momentous occassion, being invited and sharing dinner with Prime Minister Paul Martin and Mrs. Martin at their home on Sussex Drive in Ottawa. This is the first time that the APC Executive has ever been invited to such an informal and personal meeting. We were able to communicate aboriginal issues throughout Canada to a very interested, concerned and receptive Prime Minister. The APC presented the Prime Minister and Mrs. Martin with a pair of oil paintings created by an Ontario Aboriginal Artist which were graciously accepted and appreciated. We were delighted to have an opportunity to meet and speak with Mrs. Sheila Martin. She was a most gracious host, personable and made us all feel very welcome. It is easy to see the bond between this dynamic couple and we are most grateful for having been able to share this time with them.
With the National Federal Election looming, the Executive of the APC are actively reaching out to all aboriginal liberals and communities to support their Liberal candidates. EVERY vote counts. Now more than ever, it is critical that we elect a Liberal Government as we all know from statements made by Stephen Harper and various members of his party that their policy regarding Aboriginal peoples in Canada are detrimental and would result in negative impacts throughout our communities across the country.
We must continue being supportive of the needs of all Aboriginal Peoples, and ensure that the APC has a strong national voice that will continue to be heard throughout the Liberal Party of Canada. With 10,000 Aboriginal members collectively working in solidarity, I am confident we will make a difference and Keep this momentum moving.............
As always, I look forward to working with each and every one of our Aboriginal Liberals as we enter a bright new era of renewal.
