Musical Compositions by
Herbert Rothgarber

Herbert Rothgarber, award-winning composer, pianist, teacher and clinician, member of ASCAP, the LONG ISLAND COMPOSERS ALLIANCE, former consultant to the New York State Bureau of Music Education, conductor of festival ensembles and co-founder of the L.I. chapter of AOSA, has created two distinct bodies of musical works.

The first, MUSIC FOR STUDENTS, is an outgrowth of his many years of involvement in the music classroom, in the Orff-Schulwerk movement and as a teacher of Piano.  This contains highly successful method books and musical theater pieces for young people, as well as vocal and instrumental works for solos and ensembles.

The second category, CONCERT MUSIC, reflects his years as a serious composer of contemporary music whose works have been performed at home and abroad.  This contains concert music for voices and instruments, solos and ensembles.

He is presently retired from the Oceanside, L.I. school district where he taught for 28 years, serving also as Choral Director, is a  faculty member of Nassau Community College, and has recently joined the board of directors of the Long Island Arts Council at Freeport.  He resides on Long Island where he spends much of his time composing and teaching Piano as well as Composition.
