This picture was taken at the NMRA's Battle at Bowling Green, KY back in '99. This was the final round in which BK Meyers and I had each made it to for the first time.
Nice little wheels up launch, huh! Sorry the picture is so light...
This picture was also taken at the Battle at Bowling Green. The picture was taken by mustang of the month.com. You can access their site by clicking here.
Here is the motor that made it all happen for me in 1999. I am very pleased with the results that I got from merely a stock 120,000 mile shortblock, World Products iron heads, an F303 Motorsport cam, 38 lb. injectors, 70 MM throttle body, 77 MM Mass Air, a GT40 lower intake, and a Holcomb Motorsports sheet metal upper intake. My best times were 12.40 on the motor and 11.51 on Nitrous with a best 60 foot time of 1.49.
On top of my listed motor modifications above, I also had a TCI C4 automatic transmission with an 8" race converter that stalled at 5000 RPM's. An FRPP aluminum driveshaft followed, ending up at an 8.8" rear that had been fitted with 4:30 gears and an Auburn Pro.
I used Flowtech 1 5/8" full length headers into a custom 3" exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers at the end. My coupe also had Southside Machine solid motor mounts, and upper and lower control arms with poly bushings installed.
Toward the end of the season I installed an NOS dry system and blasted a 125 HP shot to it for the 11.51. I am positive that with 3:73 gears the car would have went in the low 11's, but there was no reason to spend the money as I had enough stuff to buy for the 2000 renegade project..
For appearance, I chose the '95 Ford color bright silver pearl metallic. I think this color was used on Crown Vics. The hood came from Cincinnati Composites which I am not too proud of and the wing is a Ford original from the limited edition convertibles in '92 & '93. The wheels to most are quite obvious... Weld Draglites. I went to a Weld Aluma-Star for 2000.
I had a complete Paxton Fuel system and a slick 6 point roll bar from Kenny Brown which was installed by Shawn Schmal at SS Performance and Machining in Rochester, Indiana. Shawn has upgrraded my cage to a 10 point now and is NHRA certified to 7.50 in the quarter mile. To learn more about SS Performance and Machining, click

And after all of that back then, I ended up like this below! How about doing the 1/4 mile in 8 seconds at over 155 MPH? Look for video links soon for this pass, or email me and I will send it to you... All 4 wheels were off the ground and we had to repaint the parachute mount!
