9/99 ***If Natick isn't too far, there is a place called Planet Gymnastics. It's an excellent place for kids. A birthday party allows you to have the gym for 1 hour. The gym has trampolines (at floor level, which my 2 year old loves! as do the older kids! and which are safe), a pit of soft blocks for jumping into, padded, carpeted floor, bouncing balls, etc....The kids have a safe, fun time, while the parents can relax a bit. Then there is a ½ hour (you can pay a little extra for up to 1 hour) use of the party room. This room is a bit small for 15 kids plus the adults, but there is a "king/queen" chair with balloons for the birthday child. You bring your own food and drinks. The gym provides 2 gym staff to supervise while in the gym, but they do require some parents there also. They also ask each child to have the parent sign an injury waiver form. The party we had got rave reviews from all the guests, parents and children alike.

***Arlington Tot Stop, great for toddlers & a bit older.

***Your son is a little young for the Wallex Bowling and Roller Skating deal, but in a few years, it is close by and does everything from soup to nuts! Inexpensive, etc. The Museum of Science also does age appropriate birthday parties (which are NOT cheap, but lots of fun). My son did the planetarium version and my daughter did the animal petting one. Chuck 'e Cheese in Burlington/Woburn also does parties. My son is born in late October and I have done Halloween theme parties with nonscary costumes and decorating of small pumpkins. I've also done a dinosaur theme party with homemade fossils (plastic dinosaurs in plaster of paris) and dinosaur hunts in the back yard which was wildly successful. One time I took the group applepicking (complete with parents and siblings) which was also fun. There is also the bowling alley on Rt. 2 which does parties. I think it might be a little too old for your age group, though, as is the Watertown Mall arcade, Dream Machine. File for later birthdays! The McDonalds' across the street does a birthday lunch/movie combo with the movie theater as well. Check the local Boys and Girls club the one in Watertown is probably close and rents out space for parties.

***I know that a lot of kids have bday parties at Chuck E. Cheese's. Pizza is provided and there are lots of games for kids, which seem to be popular among little kids.

***the Tot Stop in Arlington. You'll have to bring the food but the place is a great indoor playground for 26 year olds we did a 4 year old party

***In Sudbury, on Rt. 27, there is a place called The Child's Place. It is something like the Children's Museum. They have several rooms with different things to do in each room. You can have a birthday there. You pay so much per number of children, their parent is free. I think you bring you own food for the party. I believe it is for ages 26. Lots of fun.

5/00 ***My sister's kids always love Bonkers, Chuckee Cheese or the Discovery Zone. Is 4 too young for a pool party at your local YMCA? They usually rent out the pool and a room and you can order in pizza, etc.

***You could try the Kid's Playground in Woburn or Plaster Time in Reading.

***Burger King, McDonalds, Kids Playground in Woburn, Lanes and Games Bowling alley.

***I'm sure you've thought of this, but how about the Children's Museum or the Aquarium? Also, you might try your local YMCA I know that ours does birthday parties with a sports (swimming or gymnastics) theme. Good luck and let us know what the other suggestions were!

***Try Discovery Zone or Bonkers both are located on Route 1 (Saugus/Peabody Line)

***My sister in law threw a 3rd bday party for my niece at Perpetual Motion in Andover.

***imagination works in either natick or framingham www.imaginationworks.com

***child's play in sudbury, ma http://childsplaysudbury.com/

***There is Chucky Cheese in Burlington. Roller skating party at the WAlLex. They supply pizza and refreshements(included in price per child). They allow you to bring in cakes and snacks.

***I had a kids party at the Ground Round in Watertown. They were great! Certain pizza places do kids parties. It's nice the kids can make all the mess they want and you don't have to cleanup. McDonalds in Wobrun (4 corners) does kids parties. They supply coloring books, ice cream. They will tailor it to your needs. Have a new outside play room. One of the more cleaner McDonalds.(the only one I will go to). Hope this helps!

***ALL BELOW HAVE HAD PARTIES FOR CHILDREN: bowling alleys mcdonalds papa ginos local amvets, elks, moose american legion restrauants w/more than 1 function room restrauants w/an area sectioned off by a full or short wall kids n space

***The Arlington Recreation Center rents out gym right next door to tot stop. Check them out. I've had a few parties there for my daughter. You have access to whole gym plus a rec person to play games, etc. & you have a room for the birthday cake too!
