Jim Spagg's
Humanity School
             of Understanding
The creator and founder of Humanity School is Jim Spagg, an artist from the great city of Cleveland, Ohio. The idea began after he had read an article in a magazine, written by science fiction writer Isaac Assimov, titled "Can the World Survive 25 Years?"
In the article, the writer suggested 5 or 6 ways the world could end in 25 years. There was the idea of a collision by some giant asteroid or other natural phenomena, but there were other ideas as well. We might wipe out life with atomic warheads, through politics. Then we might pollute ourselves to death by wrecking the evironment.
But the idea that intrigued Jim, was the idea that religion could bring the world to an end. Assimov suggested that if we really believed in God, we would not build weapons, because God would protect us.
It was that part of the article that provoked Jim to ask himself, just what did he believe? What made the most sense to him? It couldn't be just for him though, it had to fit all humanity, after all, he was a human.
Ultimately, Jim came up with 7 basic ideas which seemed to cover it all, and was conducive to the concerns of mankind. It seemed to Jim that these ideas were universal and applied to all humanity, and so he presumed that all humans were inactively members of this religion as they were members of the human race.
As Jim considered himself as an artist, this proposed new religion was his latest work of art, which he named, "World New Religion" There were some articles in Cleveland newspapers about it, so the idea is documented in 1972.
People started calling it the "New World Religion", so Jim later re-named it "Humanity School of Understanding, as he felt that understanding was what it was all about, and better conveyed the spirit of it.

The Seven Ideas:

The Godhood of Humanity

That each person, like a god, is a creator, a creator of their own
future. Your life is what you make it. Free will allows you to believe
whatever you choose to believe, as is true for others, also godlike.

Relating to Time and Space

How do you fit into the physical, real world? Compare yourself to
the smallest and largest,  and know your strength and weakness.

Emotional Control

You have the the ability to control your mind and body. Awareness
of this and excercise thereof will give you satisfaction and success.

Understanding and Tolerance

The greatist aquisition in life is that of understanding others. You
will never completely understand others, but if you try, you will learn
more than most. We try to tolerate what we don't
understand.

Need for Involvement

As we come into this world dependant, we should, as we mature,
return the good done to us, by others, on whom we have depended, as
  well as others.

Peaceful Means

War is obsolete, Disagreements can be solved by reason, without           taking lives or destruction.

    Ecology Priority
Humans pollute Mother Earth more than any other living creature.
We wont destroy the earth, but we may destroy ourselves. We need the
earth more than the earth needs us.
