VINAFC was established in late 1996 in order to provide a play ground for Vietnamese students at Asian Institute of Technology. Its founders incluce Dr. Pham Huy Giao (Manager), Dr. Tran Hung (Technical Manager) and Mr. Hoang Anh Dung (Captain). Since that time VINAFC has continuously grown up thanks to consistent support from club members and donors. We played with other teams at AIT and in Thailand first of all for fun and ultimately for friendship and better understanding between communities. Of course, win and lost often come along together. Every terms the club is fed with new and young players; some of them are so talented; some are "disasters"; the others are fine ...; but all are enthusiatic, cheerful and friendly. That's all what we need to sustain the club. For me, playing for and captaining VINAFC is an honour. It was the only period that I played seriously. I enjoyed so much sharing the passion on football with all my lovely and talented friends there. Although we are now so busy with works and unlikely to play again, the memories I had with the club will forever stay untouched in my mind. I left AIT and VINAFC in March 1999 and always wish to come back and play one day.

With these players VINAFC had became the strongest team at AIT. From left to right, upper line are Huy, Minh, Giang Hai, Luu, Dr. Hanh, Dong, Dr. T. Luong, Nam, Quoc, Dr. Hung, Dr. Giao, Dr. P. H. Luong, Thang, Ha, Dung, Hai, Au and Tung. We had strong defenders (Dr. Luong, Nam, Huy and Thang) and excellent strikers (Dung, Ha and Dr. Hung).

A friendship match with Panasonic Team. We lost 2-3 this game, but defeated them 5-0 three months later. Dr. Giao was on the right hand side and my best team mate, Ha was on the left. Playing with him, a striker, is so enjoyable. We understand each other so much. Ha always knew where I was going to put the ball on. And more importantly he often found the goal quickly and efficiently.
