A TRIBUTE TO DAD

ON FATHER'S DAY

JUNE 20, 1999

DADDY'S LITTLE MEN

by Joan Reed

We have a special daddy

he's the best daddy the world wide.

We know he loves us very much

and always looks at us with pride.

He lifts us high in his big arms

and we feel safe as safe can be

even though we know our daddy

must be as tall as any tree.

He says one day he'll teach us

all of the good stuff that he can.

There's many things we'll need to learn

as we each grow to be a man.

He tells us that we're big and strong

and that we're smart and handsome too;

so as we grow to be bigger

there'll be much more that we can do.

We hope that we can be like him

when we are men so strong and tall,

Cause we love our special daddy

and know that he's the best of all.

This poem is a tribute to my darling husband from our two sons. I discovered it at the mall at Christmas time and being at a loss on what to get the man who has everything, I decided something from our hearts to his was best. Fortunately, we had just gotten our Christmas pictures back in time for me to slip one of the wallets of him and the boys onto the picture. It came out beautifully and he did not suspect a thing!!! He thought it was a home-improvement book from Home Depot (his home away from home). LOL I read it over and over to my oldest son. He loves it!! He wants to be just like Daddy when he grows up.

I hope everyone enjoys this poem as much as my family has. And I hope all you fathers (old and new) have a wonderful Father's Day.

One more thing...a special note to my dad who is over 2000 miles away from me. I love you and I miss you. Happy Father's Day from all of us!!! XOXOXOXOXXOXOXXOXOXOXXOXOXOX...ETC...FOREVER!!
