Question: How do you select the Poem of the Week?

Answer: The Poems of the Week are carefully chosen from among the poets that have submitted poems in our contest held. The poems are chosen based on poetic merit, subject matter, and their appropriateness to the web site.

Question: How can I get my poems posted on here?

Answer: Click on the "Submission" link on our site. Everyone who submits a poem to one of our poetry contests online is published on our web site. After your poem is posted on our site, you will be able to view your poem at any time.
You will be notified by mail if you are chosen as a semi-finalist.

Question: Why is my poem posted on your website?

Answer: Your poem is posted on our website so that others may read and enjoy your creativity. If you would like us to remove your poem from our website, send us this request with your full name and the name of your poem, and we will have it immediately removed for you. If you would like to have your poem removed from the site, but still remain a participant in the contest, feel free to do so.

Question: How can I have my poetry removed from this web site?

Answer: We publish contest entries on the web as a free service so that our poets may see their work and share it with others all over the world. If you want your poetry removed, please contact via email.

Question: Why does it take so long to be contacted after I submit a poem?

Answer: Each poem must go through a screening and semi-finalist judging process before we contact the poet. The amount of time it takes to complete this process depends on the number of contest entries we receive. We are in the process of refining this procedure to considerably minimize this waiting period. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience while we read your poems!

Question: I want to get in touch with one of the poets on your web site. Can you send me their E-mail address?

Answer: In a heartbeat! :) The link to their e-mail address is also inserted in the poet's name in the Poetry Vault. Errors in the link may be reported by clicking here.

Question: How do I know if I won the contest?

Answer: All winners will receive an e-mail informing them of their accomplishment. This letter will include the award of the list of winners. You can request a copy of the winners list at any time for the contest in which your poem was included by e-mailing us. Soon, a full list of winners will be available online--check back periodically for this new feature!

Question: How many semi-finalists are chosen from all the contest entries? How many winners are chosen?

Answer: Those entries that exhibit a unique perspective or artistic vision are advanced to semi-finalists in the contest. There are 5 semi-finalists, and one winner per contest. In the event of ties, you will both get the award.

Question:
Why can’t I submit a poem that is longer than 50 lines or wider than 70 characters?

Answer: As delineated in our contest rules, all entries must be 50 lines or fewer. We do not accept any poems for the contest that do not meet our contest specifications. We cannot accept any poems whose longest line exceeds 70 characters in length because of the spatial restrictions we have in our anthologies.
