| "December Air" By: Jamie A. Steele (Lemondrop*) Rating: MSR (Sorry, no sex) Classification: MSR, H Spoilers: None springs to mind Keywords: MSR, H Archive: Anywhere, just keep the name attached Summary: No summary. . .but it's cute! My answer to The H.A.A. Society's August Fanfic Challenge of the Month. Author's Notes: Uh. The characters ALL belong to... sigh.... Chris Carter, 1013, and Fox. I'd like to think they were mine, but alas, I'm not connected in the business. Fox Mulder and Dana Scully also rightly belong to David and Gillian. (AND each other) ;-) Feedback: Now THAT is music to my ears! Feedback is always welcome and greatly appreciated, I would LOVE to hear about what you think of this fanfic! She looked at the cartoon drawing of Santa and his reindeers on her mother's card and stifled a small laugh. She picked up the small card and reread it's contents inside. "Merry Christmas, Dana! I'm throwing another Holiday gathering this Christmas; I'd love for you to come. Be sure to bring a small present and a little treat with you if you can. And you know I'd let you bring guests along too... Love, Mom Time: 5:30 pm Place: My house, 360 Maple Grove Date: December 25 Bring: A present and a small dish or treat" She contemplated on whether she should go or not, as her eyes grazed the small handwriting. She knew she should try to get out more often, and since she hadn't been to the last one, due to the 'mysterious kidnapping' on "Thorneberry" last Christmas, which really turned out to be a whole lot of nothing... Maybe she should go this time. Who knows, she might even enjoy herself? *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ::ring:: "I'm coming, I'm coming..." Mulder quickly threw a towel around himself and picked up the phone, creating puddles on the floor wherever he stepped. "Mulder." "Hi Mulder, it's me. What are you doing right now?" "Well, I thought I'd try to soak the carpet today, a hobby I'd say I've learned to master over the years.” He tried to dry the back of his soaked neck with the towel with his one free hand. “What's going on?" "Well, I just had a rather long talk with my mother on the phone, and I told her I was going to be attending her holiday gathering. She wanted to know if you were doing anything tomorrow." She wondered if Mulder could tell from the sound of her voice that it was really her that was inviting him. She hated attending those gatherings alone, everyone having someone special to share the occasion with but her…she’d be damned if she had to spend it with Bill. And she didn’t want to hang around her mother the entire night. "Why, she wants me to come?" "That's exactly what I asked." Mulder didn't argue. "Okay, sure. Does she want me to bring anything?" "Just you.” A sigh of relief instantly washed over her. Thank =God= "Okay...do you want me to pick you up on the way over?” “No, that’s okay. I think I know my way around by now.” She smiled at the gesture. Oh, what would I do without thee…? “I was going to help my mom prepare, so I was going to arrive a couple hours ahead of time. The gathering starts at 5:30, so you might want to be there around 5.” “Okay. I’ll see you then.” ::beep:: *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ::ding dong:: Margaret answered the door. “Hi, Dana! Merry Christmas! It’s so good to see you.” Scully emerged from the front porch, wearing her sea-foam green sweater and faded jeans. Margaret stifled a smile at the sight of her. She was struggling to carry two paper brown bags, and two wrapped up presents. “Need a hand, Dana?” She nodded, and Margaret reached for the bags and helped her into the kitchen. “Thanks for coming to help me prepare, I need as much help as I can get. I already have two girls here helping me out, let me introduce you to them.” Margaret was in one of her usual good moods, so she went along with it, hoping that her cheerful spirit would last all day. She wondered how her mom did it. She couldn’t remember a time when =she= was ever that happy. Well, their lives were a lot different, for one thing. “Dana, meet Stephanie. Stephanie, this is my daughter, Dana.” Stephanie had beautiful flowing Italian hair, and she wore a dark maroon T-shirt and faded jeans, covered by a large chef's apron. Baking powder covered her hands and dusted her nose. “Merry Christmas, Dana, it’s so wonderful to finally meet you. Let me tell you now that you have the most sweetest mother.” She even had an Italian accent. Very fluent, too. Margaret stifled a laugh and even blushed a bit. Then came the other. “This is the other angel that’s been helping me, her name is Samantha. She’s Stephanie’s daughter; She’s 12.” Samantha…she stifled a small smile. Mulder was gonna love this. And with that Italian lifeblood in her, she even looked a bit like the Samantha Mulder. If she could only tie her hair back in two little braids… “Hi Dana, Merry Christmas. Do you want me to put your presents under the tree for you?” She was very cute. She also had a little apron on her. Her hands were covered in baking powder too, and she wiped them off on her apron quickly. “Sure, thank you.” She handed the girl her two wrapped gifts and watched her carefully place them under the beautifully lit tree with the rest of the presents. “Nice to meet you both.” Scully gave a slight smile, then looked towards the kitchen. “Let me help you out in the kitchen.” *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* |
