The Allen's Hummingbird is commonly found along costal California. The red-throated male is the only hummingibrd with a solid rufous tail and green head and back. Females and Immatures look very much like the Rufous Hummingbird, and are often confused.  The courtship of the males is a 25 degree pendulum, which is followed by a dive from about 100 feet.
