Suffers from tape problems, indistinct vocals, bit bassy. High energy gig. Blackberry sounds different to later live outings. Parts of 'Ballad' are better quality (B+), 'Wiser Time' sounds worse. Steve is on fire during 'Remedy' Filler: 10/31/94 Mean Fiddler London - (5 tracks) B+ 7/23/96 Supper Club, NY 2 CD SBD A+ (from Paul) Artwork 'Top 5' Stealth soundboard There are generally two types of Black Crowes performance, good, and great. This is the latter. Fantastic sound which is panned in places, brilliant 'Bring On', 'Ballad->Wiser' also great. Rich's vocals are even in tune most of the time. 7/24/96 Supper Club, NY 2 CD B+ (from Mid) Artwork Famous, and pretty good gig. I prefer the 7/23/96 show, mostly because the sound is better. Some glitches, particularly in 'Nonfiction' 8/27/96 The Bottom Line, NY 2 CD B+/A (from Kath) Artwork 'Storytellers' 'Great performance' All acoustic show and its great. Allen Woody on mandolin. 11/17/96 Bullet Sound Studios, Amsterdam 1 CD SBD A (from Frank) Sounds more like loose rehearsals than anything recorded for broadcast. Its pretty good when it gets going, particularly 'He Was A Friend Of Mine', 'Wiser Time', ''Better When You’re Not Alone' There is a small pop in 'Wiser Time' My copy doesnt have any interviews, bit of chat though. 11/17/96 Bullet Sound Studios, Amsterdam 1 CD VCD B(video)/B+(sound) (from Chad) 11/29/96 Sunrise, FL 2 CD B (From Stu) Artwork Permatree Round 1. The first track has some sound level problems. Highlights: 'Descending', 'Cursed Diamond', 'Sloppy Drunk' and the extended jam before 'Thorn..' 2/19/97 Paris, France 2 CD A (from Todd) Artwork An absolutely Great show - my favourite at the moment. Excellent (Audience?) recording, sounds like the band were very happy. Lots of jams. The 'How much -> Space Jam -> Hard to handle' section is one of the most compelling (and strange) pieces I have heard from the Crowes. 'Feathers' sounds great but a bit happy - I prefer the more muted version from Deer Creek 7/22/97. 2/22/97 Garage, London 3 CD DAUD A (from Bob) Artwork All Acoustic. Not too noticeable though. 7/20/97 Riverport Amphitheater, Maryland Heights, MO 1 CD (from CrowesBR) Not listened to this one yet 7/22/97 Deer Creek, Noblesville, IN 1 CD B+ (from Joe) Artwork Last 'Feathers' for 4 years. Very dark and atmospheric version. 7/25/97 Rivers Edge Park - Somerset, WI 1 CD AUD A (from Skins) Artwork Rare outing for 'Paint an Eight' This is listed in The Crowesbase as AUD, sounds more like SBD to these ears. 7/31/97 Portland Meadows, Portland, OR 1 CD (from Christine) This just in 8/2/97 Shoreline Ampitheatre, Mountain View, CA 1 CD B+ (from Iain) Very peculiar bit at end of 'Wiser Time' - Ed tries to start 'Ballad in Urgency', but Rich goes straight into 'Share the Ride' Marcs playing decidedly dodgy 'in parts of 'Another Roadside Tragedy' 8/3/97 Irvine Meadows, Irvine, CA 1 CD B+ AUD (from Ronnie) Artwork Last ever Marc Ford gig with the Crowes While the sound is not as good as the SBD shows, the performance definitely is. Filler: 'Words that you throw away' from the 'Hotel Illness' single Sweet Pickle Salad / Tall (Version 1) 1 CD A+ (from Kenny) Artwork This is worth getting hold of. The SPS tracks are long, more funkier than the Crowes. The flute playing adds a relaxed feeling. There is a skip in 'Cant Let Go (Limits)' 'Title Song' - personally, I prefer this live. Heres a bit of info about SPS Sweet Pickle Salad / Tall (Version 2) 1 CD A (from Greg) Sweet Pickle Salad (Version 3) 1 CD A (from Stu) Complete? 4 tracks, no skipping, better sound than 1+2 above.
